I'm as cynical as they come, but do you really just assume the change story is made up? But lets be fair, even if it was my points 2, 3 & 4 all still apply.

Sure, the PPC should have some ability to stop people parking without paying (like a pay-on-exit barrier) whilst getting rid of all the dodgy practices that are tarnishing the PPC industry.
  • Haha. I suppose the fine is what it is. I'm bothered by the sum ans also the somewhat predatory behaviour of the RCP guy... I bet he was peeing his pants with excitement when he realised he was going to set the record for fastest ever fine. Sorry, invoice :p

I will wait for the NTK. Just a bit nervous as this will take us past the half price special offer period that they've put on the back of the ticket. Why would I not simply appeal straight away?
  • Hey!! Made up??!! Whaaa???? No way, I would never lie!! Surely the fact I've no idea what to do because I've never been fi- no, INVOICED before goes some way to show that I always, always pay... in fact I've been over paying at that car park for ages because of their conveniently crap card payment system which is why on this occasion I opted to get change as I actually had cash on me for once.

I've had to park there twice since and checked the signs. Nothing says you can't leave and nothing says what will happen if you don't display a ticket. Unfortunately there's also no CCTV which would have backed me up brilliantly.

I have to park there later. I hate parking there now but it's so bloody convenient. My protest parking last week left me with a twisted ankle from all the cobblestone streets I had to negotiate on the other end of town ;)

You need to forget about the way you were caught/cctv "backing up" your story etc and just concentrate on the advice to read the newbies thread and follow the advice there!

If you read it again you will see why you need to await the NTK.

You won't be referring to the 2 minutes/7 minutes etc in your stock appeal as the NTK!!

Ignore the half price special offer; it's only there to pressure you into paying up without arguing, and if you somehow lose at POPLA they'll offer you it again anyway, which you of course ignore.

If you appeal straight away, you acknowledge you were the driver, and you lose the opportunity to point out how incorrect their NTK is (it's always non-compliant somehow, either in terms of timescales or content).

Essentially, waiting for the NTK gives them another opportunity to trip themselves up and make it harder to pretend the 'charge' is valid.

Haha. I suppose the:mad::mad::mad:[STRIKE] fine[/STRIKE]:mad::mad: is what it is.

    In that context, it isn't.

Stop using that 4-letter 'f-word', please, notwithstanding later 'invoice' clause.

Just read and absorb the advice properly. We all want you to see this off. None of us defeated our own scam invoices by skim-reading.

If they try to deny you a popla code, let us know.

  • I am reading. And reading and reading. Trying not to skim read. Got a highly demanding little person to look after full time, so it tends to be on my phone when I get a minute here and a second there! I'll let you know how I get on! Cheers

there is no rush, you are waiting for the NTK to come in the post (after day 29 and before day 56)

so when the baby is asleep you have plenty of time to do the research on this, especially as the NEWBIES sticky thread deals with it

its rushing and not taking the time to digest it all and to understand the "game" that is holding you back, not the baby as you have weeks to look into this , then after the NTK you have 28 days to get an appeal in as keeper
