    Morning all,
La E - I remember that feeling from work. I'm a bit of a drama queen, so would go off on one big time if I discovered I'd made an error in a big piece of work, when really, if I'd kept it to myself, nobody ever would have known. (Lots of 'mouth needing duct tape' incidents in my life over the years......)

OK, today's modest money saving efforts:
    *NSD
*Shared hot bath water. We've paid to heat it, it was clean.....why pay twice?
*Make chicken stew - last of the rubber chicken (Meal 4)
    *Make packed lunch for tomorrow.
*Refill little plastic containers with value dried fruit for work snacks.
*Did a few surveys. Lots of 'sponsored content' type on Toluna this morning.....that's the one click vote ones. V quick indeed & 15 points per click.
*Weed, pinch out, tie up & feed broad beans. Quite a few pods forming, so want to keep them in good fettle.
*Pot up remaining chillies & peppers.
*Transfer the 3 jalopeno chilli plants I overwintered on a bedroom windowsill to greenhouse. Noticed they are all starting to fruit.
*Plant out small row of cabbages (if I don't get down the veggie plot & find that our massive greedy woodpigeon hasn't gobbled them in the night - Dawn - I see you have a similar problem. Unbelievable what they can eat. This one is nearly the size of a duck!)
*If time, plant out more bedding & perennials in the borders - all grown from free seed.
*Ironing - a very money saving load today, as only 4 items needed ironing & I did one of those after switching off, using the residual heat.
*Use-it-up....still ongoing. Currently talc. I don't use it but it's something I sometimes receive as a gift, so I'd rather use it than have it hanging around or waste it. It tends to clutter up my cupboard. Oh, & only one product left from my kitchen cupboard blitz to use up now. Everything else used. Remaning product is granite cleaner. I won it in a box of Method cleaning products ages ago. Good range & environmentally friendly. I have beechwood work surfaces though, not granite. The only vaguely granitey thing in our house is the marble hearth. I usually only hoover that & give it a quick wipe with dilute Stardrops. Will have to look at ingredients on bottle & see if there is anything else it could clean. Belfast sink perhaps? Mirrors?
OK, it's clouding over here, so had better get outside & start grafting before the showers.
    Cheers all,
    f x

I feel for you La E, honesty isn't always the best policy :rotfl:

Where be our Ziggy today? She's normally an early bird or do I remember reading about a forthcoming holiday?

Today I have booked the very last day of my contract as a holiday as I finished on a Monday so now I've freed that whole week up for other bookings (though lots of people seem to be booking part weeks at the moment.) Because of delays in getting my season ticket loan approved my season tickets extends for 3 weeks after I leave here so I'd like to get those weeks book dup so as not to waste it.

DS being on a healthy eating regime is costing me a fortune but it's good for him so I can't complain. We went to Mr S last night and I picked up some half price cheese for me which will suffice for lunch with my half price mini cheddars for the rest of the week.

I managed to resist the plates in there I have my eye on even though they are on 3 for the price of 4. I was thinking on the train this morning that all my disposable income seems to go on food with nothing left over for 'stuff' I'd like but then thought about people in the third world whose whole existence is just about feeding themselves and their family so if I'm doing that then I suppose I'm doing okay.

Tonight I'll probably make a mini roast as we have a pack of value cooked, sliced chicken in the fridge that I want to use up. I usually heat it up in gravy in a covered dish and DS and DH love it (I'm not fussed about meat at all, I was veggie for 13 years and I've got used to eating roast dinners sans meat!) and it's only £2 per pack. It doesn't give the leftovers that a whole bird would but I'm not organised enough to stretch them as far as others do.

The other house in my road now has a 'sold' board. I'm not sure if it is to my buyers or someone else (and the estate agent still hasn't replied to my email.) I should give them a call and ask what it went for (if it wasn't my buyers.) There's still nothing in the roads we like so that's probably a good thing. There is one house in an area I would consider but DH doesn't like but it's also the area where DS's ex lives and they had a very painful break up and I wouldn't want him having to see her all the time. She's probably off to uni in September but her parents were particularly foul to him and I don't think he needs reminding by bumping into them either.

Have a great day everyone! :)

I'm here, reading and lurking, just not much to say - sorry :o

We go away Saturday to Filey for a week in our touring caravan but not sure how much more DFW we will be, lol, we have a trip to Derby Friday evening during rush hour to collect grandson from his mums house so he can come away with us. Hubby's work are now putting pressure on hi to work longer hours due to upcoming holiday - they've even asked if he can work part of Saturday and go later - they really are so dis-organised and lack any forward thinking (amongst other things :rotfl:).

Morning Bob, Have a good day!

Thank you, it was a good one. Thats annoying about the tax on your childs account. Can you get it back for last year? Or is it gone now as the tax year is closed. Do you remember filling in one of those forms, I think its a form r85.

    That's good news Bob :)

Re tax, my dad thinks we can claim back last years as well (worth a try if nothing else!) yes I thought we'd filled in the R85, I've checked ds2's statement from last year (both acc's opened on the same day) and he didn't pay the tax on his, so looks like its on one but not on the other) This particular branch of halibobs have messed up several accounts of mine over the years (I aren't a tax payer either) to me I think the staff are so focused on upselling that they make mistakes on the reason you've gone in there, for example I go in to pay a cheque in and they are asking who my mortgage is with, do I have life insurance, whats my car insurance renewal date, you do know that you are pre-approved for our cc etc etc etc! Over the last year I've moved the majority of my money away from them over to santandbobs and I think these two accounts of the boys are going to follow suit!

Ziggy, hope you're ok, we went to Filey a bit when I was a child, when we lived up North, I seem to remember playing on a putting green. Hope you have a lovely break, its sounds like your OH's work place are as disorganised as my dh's!

DaveO well done, sounds like you're very focused :)

    Hi All

La E - Sorry to hear about your anxiety & bad night. Has today improved for you?
FVD - I love reading about your house dramas, it will be really dull once you actually have moved :)
Ziggy - Will your husband get overtime if he does help them out?
    Daveo - Well done!
MM - The shredder is your friend.
Foxgloves - Your survey total is getting quite chunky there isnt it. How much time would you say you are putting into that of a week?
Twiggy - Prepare for the boot....size 7 Nike High Top, 1...2...3..

Well. A very funny day today. Started off so slowly at the shop that I thought I may as well pack up by about 11am. Then all these builders started to appear. Never seen any of them before, most came in twos, had a comedy moment with one builders mate who came in asking for a sausage roll with no butter (eh) we discussed this and decided that the likelyhood of his friend actually meaning that was slim. In the end he took 2 sausage sandwiches (no butter) & 2 sausage rolls to be on the safe side :)
My trade really is the most random ever. But I'll take it. Electric bill safetely paid again, & once more we are into the fill Bobs salary pot period of the month.

OH has tommorow off to go to sons sports day, which is brilliant for me as I dont have to kill myself to do the school run after work. Which feels like a day off in itself. Nearly died busting my hump to cycle there today at top speed, & of course every green light changed to red just as I was speeding along to get through. Grrr....

Off for a soak with a hot cuppa as well. Oh the high life....

    NSD 15/20 done.

    Night!

    Bob

    Evening all :)
I babysat little 18 month old GD today, and am sat exhausted surrounded by the debris :rotfl:

    So small list for today:
Read meters and entered readings online
Made a coffee sponge cake, half of which has now gone  (I only had 1 piece though!!)
Took baby for a walk to feed the ducks for free exercise/ entertainment (I think she ate more of the bread than the ducks did though :rotfl:)
Bread in machine at the moment
Leftover frittata from last night for lunch, but OH is getting a takeaway for supper (doesn't happen very often)

    Still to do:
    Evening feed for hens
Pick up the toys, sweep up the crumbs etc
See what needs doing in the garden

Pathetic list, but I feel an early night coming on!
