Wed 20th May - What small DFW things will you do today?

When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym
But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free.
Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.
So be proud of those small steps, they really are important! :money:

Good morning DFW-Devotees,
Work day today, so short, uninspiring, unadventurous list
New Era Day 12:
:grinheart Check online banking.
:grinheart Bought DVD through Flubit shopbot (Link). £1.56 cheaper than my usual suppliers. Will use again for sub-£10 purchases. More info on shopbots here (Link).
:grinheart Taking wraps for packed lunch with a wee tupperware box of filling so I can fill them 'fresh' at lunchtime.
Good luck with your Devotions, Devotees.

Morning Ally & all who follow
Today I will be
- Keeping my purse shut & making sure my bank balance doesn't change. 9 days till OH gets paid. All essential planned bills have been paid so just travel for OH & food to manage. DONE
- Cycle all journies today. Saving around £5 on travel card.- DONE
- We had the Mr T Orchard Steaks last night. So free meat and very nice it was too. For tonight I plan to do pasta and veggies. - DONE
-Take snacks for son's after school journey home. Keeps us from buying junk when he's hungry. - DONE
- Keeping the heating off & not using the tumble. I called and spoke to First Utility last night which was worthwhile. We still have a deficit of £230 on our account after the administration issues they had before the winter started. We currently pay £105 toward this every month but the cold period meant we weren't really clearing anything. Now we seem to be down to £88 a month usage. So it will go down slowly. But anything we can do to help get to 0 is a good thing.
- Look for roadkill. Seem to be finding a few pence a day again at the moment. - NADA today, but 30p in tips
Hope everyone has a good day.

Its lovely and sunny here so far this morningAs I need to go into town with my mum (using her staff discount to get DH some new tshirts) I''ve decided that I'm going to do my exercise in the fresh air (as the gym is in the opposite direction to the town) so this will save some fuel cost. Hi everyone :hello:
I was trying to get into work early today but not yet anywhere near ready to leave. Didn't sleep very well last night - noticed something wrong with my work at 6.30pm yesterday and since then I have been:
a) wondering how the hell it happened in the first place (conclusion is just me not thinking about what I was doing),
b) getting annoyed for talking about my mistake rather than just fixing it before anyone even knew there was a problem, and
c) thinking about how to fix it.... annoyed that I could have done a lot easier/myself if no-one knew about the mistake in the first place but now I need to jump through all of the corporate hoops rather than me just fixing the bleeding thing before anyone knew there was a problem anyway....
Phew, thanks for listening!
Apart from fixing my mistake (hopefully under the radar...) I'm going to:- - brekkie at home - no croissants for me
- - packed lunch
- - OH slow cooking something for me, ready for when I get home :A
- - class planning
- - bit of biz planning - emails
- - continuing my Kon-quest - paperwork :cool:
- - checked banking - move some money around
What a soggy grey day here!!
xxxxx
Wow - Hannah - just spotted your list! You are on the ball!! :T0 - - brekkie at home - no croissants for me

* Print barcode for ParkRun at work
* Check FPL
* Earn more on OnePoll
* Earn more SBs
* CALL AND BOOK MUMS PRESENT! (yes you can kick me!)
* Call brother to discuss music for mums party as didn't manage to get hold of him yesterday
* Call garage re radio code as not heard anything yet and it's driving me nuts not having music in my car!
* Go to bank to sort out how to log into online banking, order new card and pay money in
* Order cake for mums birthday
* Put music on phone whilst at parents
* Go with dad to party venue to finalise arrangements
* Pick up MIL on way back from parents as she's popping round for the evening

Morning all
Thanks for starting us ally
Not much going on for me today - been invited to OH's work colleague's wedding reception but it will require an overnight stay so I'm trying to get him to have a think about how much we NEED to go as it will be over £100 once the B&B cost and drinks are factored in.
A book I have been looking forward to reading is available for collection at the library so will go and collect that today, and then head to Virgin Lounge for a free brew and to finish my current book.
Had my free Waitrose coffee this morning on the way to work, very welcome in this weather.
Was up at 6.30am this morning as usual but managed to find time to make a sweet potato and mixed bean stew so that's now in the fridge, much better than making it tonight as now it has all day for the flavour to develop. Will serve with some microwaveable rice that we stock up on when it's cheap for last minute dinners. Lunch and snacks already made so hopefully no spending today.
Still dreaming of my holiday although the dream has now progressed into wanting to get the mortgage paid off so we can save to move there when we retire (30 years away yet!).
Have good DFW days all! xMy debt free diary | Post Office loan: £2131 1429.38 | Barclaycard: £4429 1988.12 | Paypal Credit £322.71 574.91 | Monzo Flex £169.03 |
Total £4151.44 | £2900.30 of £7051.74 paid off since diary started October 2024.0
