O/S Daily Wednesday 20th May 2015
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine

Morning everyone
Birthday wishes to those celebrating a birthday, hope you have a great day x
Hugs and get well wishes to those that want/need them.
Now light, bright and sunny, air feels really cool though.
DH up and gone to work stupid early. DS1 now getting ready for work. Will wake DS2 shortly, so he can get ready for school.
Dinner last night was fish, chips, beans/veg, and side salad for the menfolk, I had smoked haddock, jacket potato and veg. Tonight we’ll be having lasagne, I’m going to make a big one and then save 2 portions for the boys to have tomorrow night as DH and I are going away tomorrow.
Yesterday I was semi productive, I managed to do washing, drying and ironing, but there’s still some washing in the dirty wash basket, so will tackle that today. I continued to do some cleaning up in DS2’s bedroom, it’s nowhere near finished but better than it was and I’ll continue with it after the weekend – it’ll possibly be next week when he’s on half term. I also sorted through some of my clothes and tried a few different bits on to see what I want to take this weekend and to make sure that things go together (iyswim). I’ll be checking the weather forecast too, as usually the weather is not that kind and we need loads of warm clothes, but as it’s so unpredictable at the moment I want to take a selection so I can adjust what I need to wear.
This morning I need to go to town, visit the bank and do some food shopping, then come home, pack and prep the lasagne for later. I also want to put the wine glasses through the DW. I have a nail appointment at 3pm this afternoon, so that’s why I want to get the lasagne prepped and started – I’m thinking I’ll get the meat sauce made and then at least I’ll just have to make the cheese sauce and assemble it ready to put in the oven later.
I’m really looking forward to going away this weekend, it’s always a good weekend and we get to catch up with people, we’re all just hoping the weather is better than last year, it was horrendous, every outfit on site last year had to be towed off – there were approx. 1400!
Keep safe and well x

Morning All
nmlc, I hope you have a good weekend and the weather is kind to you.
Gers - I think replacing your windows will pay off in the long run.
LW - Your hairy visitor sounds to be just the thing to lift you.
dumpling - How's the new pup?
The sun is splitting the skies this morning, yesterday turned out to be ok to with just a few little spitting showers every now and then. As I was on the train I went a stop further on and then walked back along the river, it was really lovely, all the fishermen are really friendly and I enjoyed the fresh air.
DD had some sort of veggie burger that was in the freezer and saute pots (lo from sat) for tea and I had bacon with lots of green veggies, I tried to make meringues with artificial sugar last night but they didn't turn out - all sqidgy and tasted like egg white!
Hope you all have some sunshine today, take care. XX0 -
Morning one and all. I think it promises to be a better day than yesterday when everything was thrown at us.
Yesterday's visit to St James' was one of the better ones, a shorter wait than previous visits too. So that's it for another month. We were out in time for the lunch service in the restaurant and enjoyed a lovely chicken and bacon pasta bake, followed by an enormous slice of carrot cake. That meant we didn't want much later on and just settled for a sandwich.
We have the 3 DGDs for tea and sleepover so I have just got some sausages out to defrost, to enjoy with mash and onion gravy.
Mr TA plans a tip run of all the broken electrical items we have had to replace this last week (grill element, hob and freezer, plus caravan battery) and I have the hairdressers for a much needed trim - I fear she won't know where to start it has got so out of hand! And maybe today I will get round to tidying the garden up and doing some much needed weeding!
Have a good day all, hugs to those in need. Take care xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -
Morning all,
After lots of phone calls back and forth yesterday I did finally get my day off so was able to go with mum for her op, she was fine and slept here last night as she had a general anaesthetic so needed someone with her. OH has just gone to drop her off on his way to work.
So off to work for me today its a nice day here so it will probably be quiet got lots of baking to do so will keep busy.
Not sure about dinner tonight will go and have a rummage in the freezer after this.
Ordered the wood yesterday for my new larder cupboards, OH and I will build them over the weekend and get them painted, I cant wait they are tall thin ones so all the food will be easily accessible without haven't to get on the floor to get to the back of the cupboard.
Right better get on have good days all xx0 -
Morning everyone.
Lovely day forecast here so fingers crossed. The roofer used to be a fisherman and can predict the rain coming in to around five minutes. That's when he goes and sits in his car. It's a great skill.
Gardener / landscaper came round to look at the back garden, I want it re-turfed as the ground is so bumpy and full of holes. So it's a mini digger time. Hope they can start soon. Seems like there's lots of jobs to get done over the summer, all of which will drain the savings. Windows are the biggies, but, you're right Camelot, they will make a huge difference in the house.
Today wil be one of ringing around tradesmen. Will do a wash and christen my newly installed whirlygig (only two weeks late!). New lawnmower should arrive today too.
Just thinking about needs doing makes me tired. And I've got my class to teach tonight so need a bit of prep for it.
Hope everyone has a good or better day. Waiting for the name of the new puppy!0 -
Good morning everyone :hello: from a very tired dumpling - I really need this :coffee:.
Our lovely puppy is called Max but I'm calling him the poopy puppy! Most of the day he follows me round unless he is terrorising our evil cat...who incidently is a lot more evil now we had the temerity to bring this small hairy thing into his home :rotfl::rotfl:. He's so lovely and into everything, it's like having a toddler in the house except for night time when he turns into a hyena :eek:. It's so loud that we've moved his crate into our bedroom next to the bed and he has settled much better now. I got up with him at 3am so he could have a widdle and eventually went back to bed at around 5am but I had a horrible dream that's really upset me so I feel all weird now.
DD13 is home today as she isn't very well but the others have all gone off to work/school ok. I have to go and dig out some chicken breasts from the freezer in a minute for tea. I have all the ingredients to make the Hairy Dieters Spanish Chicken so that is what I am going to make. I have been struggling with cooking for a while as when I make it, I don't want to eat it. I am a pretty good cook so it's not that the food is inedible it's just I don't fancy it once it is on the plate. I think I will spend some time looking for some new recipes today preferably ones with lots of flavour and a bit of spice.
I will try and catch up on some sleep later if DD is up to puppy sitting for a bit. I hope you all have a great day whatever you are up to, take care xx0 -
Good Morning chums and a beautiful morning it is in north Kent as well.I am full of beans today as I had a phone call from the hospital and my surgeon has a cancellation for 29th May so I can have the last of my reconstruction operations done
:):):)I am walking on air at the moment and hopefully once out and back up on my feet I will soon be able to buy some pretty underwear the first for almost 8 years.I will seem odd wearing a bra after all this time but well worth the wait
:):)
I am sorting out my fridge to use up all the fresh food if I can as I may be in hospital for several days then will probably go back to Dds for a day or so depending how I get on .
My DGS have been great and promised me a supply of McDonalds strawberry milkshakes (my secret favourite) and as many ginger nut biscuits as I want:):)
No driving for 6 weeks afterwards which will be a pain but necessary.I have lots of books to read so I won't get bored.Right time for a cuppa methinks
Have a good day everyone what ever you are doing

Jackie that is good news, I wish you all the best, I know you have waited a long time for the final op.
The neighbours will wonder what is going on with all the beautiful underwear on the washing line:)
Take care

Morning all!
It's a lovely sunny day here. I've been up since 4 and have managed to get lots done. No idea why I woke up so early though! Even done an hours exercise around 6. Feel much better for exercising in the morning! Will always try to do it. A load of washing has been done as well as hung up ready. Have kept it inside though as I don't trust the weather after the last few days!!
Going out for lunch today with my work team. We're going to try a new restaurant that's opened in town - am super excited as it's a favourite!
I'm glad you got to go to the hospital redruby with your mum and wish her a fast and speedy recovery.
TA - glad you didn't have a long wait!
And I second camelot's question about the new pup dumpling, do we have a name yet?
Hope you all have a lovely day!My debt free diary

Morning ((((((((((((((((((((((((((hugs))))))))))))))))))))))) if you need one.
A bright morning, better weather forecast for today, so the washer is on with a load of coloureds, including OH's track suit which he wears in the house. He was at a bowls club meeting last night, wondered hwere he had got to, he was so late back.
No real plans for today, will see how it pans out, might do some gardening.
Phone call from DD2 last night. She had received a £25 voucher from Sainsbury from her old work. A lady had passed away and her family had bought vouchers for all the staff. DD2 is going to Sainsbury on Sunday to buy the ingredients for Sunday lunch and will come here to cook it, so we can all share. Such a generous gesture. DD2's course is the first weekend in June, I will take her and collect her.
Right off to get the clothes out on the line, its quite breezy, the sun keeps shining briefly then goes in again.0
