I recently received a parking fine on a private car park, the fee being £90. The poor and misleading signage was the only reason I parked where I did. I appealed against the fine but surprise, surprise the company rejected my appeal and sent me a letter to say that i had the option to pay the fine or appeal to POPLA, however should I wish to appeal and it was rejected I would have to pay a fine of £150. Due to how strongly a felt about my case and the photos I had, I decided to appeal. Due to being away I did not immediately act on this however I wrote and sent my letter of appeal within the 28 days that was quoted. I have been waiting for a response however instead of a response I received a letter from a dept recovery agency stating that I must pay the £150. I rang then today only to find out that the 2nd letter of appeal I sent to the private parking company instead of POPLA. The private parking company had received the 2nd letter, did not let me know that I had sent it to them in error and proceeded to inform the dept company once the 28 days had expired. I have spoken to POPLA today and they will not look into my appeal due to it going over the 28 days. Do I have any other option now other than to pay the fine ??????????? Please help / advise

Name of private parking company that issued the charge
Whos car park was this? a typical answer would be a supermarket ( ie ASDA ) a retail park, a pub, cinema, stand alone car park, other..
Why did you receive a parking charge notice? what made up rules did you break?- overstay? out of bay? your car is blue and you parked it in a space for cyan cars only? driver/passenger/dog/pet pigeon left site? Your vehicle was dismantled by Squirrels and therefore the cameras didnt detect it leaving the site ( see link)

Thanks for the quick response - cuppa in the hand so here goes
Name of private parking company that issued the charge - UK Parking Control limited
Car Park was a retail park -90% of the parking is open to the public apart from sections to the rear of some of the restaurants that i now know is not open to public parking. At the opening to the parking area behind one of the restaurant there was a sign similar to the ones all around the car park that indicated i was ok to park in that area. On arrival back to my car the parking attended told me that i should have noticed the sign on the wall approxiately 5 metres away from where i parked. The sign in question differed from the one i looked at, at the entrance.
The parking fine was issued due to me being parked in an area that was for permit holders only, ie staff.
Please see below pictue - my car is the red one, you will notice the sign i am looking at and the one on the wall to the left of my car.0 -

I have read through however i am still unsure how to approach this. The 28 days to appeal to POPLA has expired, i have contacted them and they will not look at my case. What do i do next, ignore the Dept Company, go back to UKPC or contact POPLA again ?0

Missed POPLA deadline? - your (golden) chance of killing this dead is gone! Not much more you can do but either pay up (which no one here is recommending), or continue to ignore (including 'scary' debt collection agent letters) for (sorry!) up to six years which they have to pursue any alleged debt. Likelihood of a 'chase' (on current performance, but no guarantee for the future) is pretty slim.
Don't ignore a LBCCC/LBA/MCOL (see post #2 of NEWBIES sticky for acronym definitions), which will need to be dealt with. Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. You've foolishly missed your POPLA chance so now it's just ignore."The darkest places in hell are reserved for those who maintain their neutrality in times of moral crisis." - Dante Alighieri0 -
your golden chance may be gone, however there are still a few opportunities, and one of the key ones lies in the land owner, you could also bung a mention of this in as well https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/5239891Missed POPLA deadline? - your (golden) chance of killing this dead is goneFrom the Plain Language Commission:
