Hi guys,

I'm happy enough that they're owned by Dixons Carphone - obviously fairly legit then - but in terms of how customer friendly they are, would anyone who has used them, use them again?

Their deals on the xperia Z3 compact are so good, they really have to be considered against the Networks.

Thanks in advance!

D

There are volumes of experience on here. If it's a cashback deal I recommend you ensure you know exactly what you're doing before committing. That requries a lot of research, some planning and control throughout the term of the contract.

+1 on this. Follow their rules by the book and you should be OK.

I have to say I had used them once in the past and had no problems. They are (were?) based in Watford and had a high street store a long time ago (late 1990s/early 2000s). We used to pass it often but they moved to a Watford Business Park a while ago.

I have had many cashback contracts with mobiles.co.uk and have always been paid. Over the years I've had one or two issues. Eg I was once refused a cashback payout for no good reason. I contacted customer services and they sorted it out. My last cashback claim was in January this year. The cheque arrived 2 weeks after I submitted the claim and has been cashed. My online account shows "cheque not received". This happened on a different contract a couple of years ago and my online account never updated to show the cashback had been paid.

If you take out a contract I would save all the info they send you re cashback. Make a note in your diary when you need to make your cashback claim and put your claim in as soon as you can so that if there are any issues you have time to sort them out. It's easy to claim your cashback - you log into your mobile.co.uk online account and upload the relevant bill.

There's currently up to £36.75 on Topcashback for mobiles.co.uk.

I wouldn't ever use them again even if it meant being without a phone .....Lots of people use them though and if no problems it's not an issue.
It's not just about the money

I can't find this particular deal but you will pay £31 a month. Then every few months you will upload a copy of your mobile phone bill on the mobiles.co.uk website. A few weeks later you receive a cheque. So over the 2 years of the contract you will pay 24 x £31 = £744. Then you'll receive £155 in cashback. So £744 - £155 = £589. £589 ÷ 24 (months) = £24.54. So you will have effectively paid £24.54 a month. Does that make sense?

On my current 2 year contract I have to claim cashback 5 times. I think if you click onto the next screen you will be able to view the schedule for claiming the cashback.

It is easy to do but you need to make sure you understand when/how you need to claim the cash back. And keep a copy of all the instructions and schedules.

You also need to ensure that the information they give you is currect; lately it has been, but CPW have a long history of producing incorrect instructions.

The ONLY thing which matters are the t&c you sign up to at the point of sale - not what they tell you (or sometimes invent) afterwards.

This would be a good start for those considering cashback contracts:-

Always start on the assumption that you may have to force them to pay up at some point; you will therefore need to be able to prove what the agreement was, that you complied with it and that they didn't. I recenlty had two claims rejected by this company and immediately got them accepted by taking the correct action at that point. At other times the people I order for have needed to go all the way to issuing legal proceedings - but we always get our money. Normally, there isn't a problem - but some of my people have numerous contracts (though not as many as moi!) and one or two of them do fall into bad practices despite my prods and checks.

It should be straightford and usually is - but I make sure that (unless they go bust) they pay even when it isn't.
