Ebuyer refusing to honour 3 year warranty
Comments

Just like any normal person would, I expected a repair or replacement since its still within it's warranty period! While the guarantee may have specific conditions in regards to returning the item or waiting for it to be repaired etc. I would still expect that the outcome would be the same, and that is after a period of time I would either have a repaired board or a replacement.
Nope that would depend upon the actual warranty T&C and the actual problem .
Was this 3 year warranty from the motherboard manufacturer or EBuyer ??0 -

Ebuyer as far as i'm concerned, they advertise this on the product page and are still doing so with the REV 2.0 of the exact board I purchased.
I really do struggle to understand how this can be questionable? They advertise a 3 year warranty on the product page but then ignore it and try to use the sale of goods act so they can issue people with a partial refund. I'm simply amazed that this isn't clear cut.0 -

The reason that it's not clear cut is because you don't know exactly what the terms of the 3 year warranty stated.
For all you know, it might have said that in the first two years a replacement item or full refund would be given and in the third year, only a partial refund.
It might also have stated that a replacement would be given but if an identical unit wasn't available, then only a percentage of the full purchase price would be refunded.
I know that these conditions are unlikely, but without having a copy of the warranty showing the terms and conditions that applied, there is no way to know for sure one way of the other.0 -
Is this a SquareTrade warranty that you paid extra for, can you link to the newer product?
As above, it is difficult to give an informed opinion without knowing what the warranty says.0 -
I guess that you have never seen warranties that cover parts only?Just like any normal person would, I expected a repair or replacement since its still within it's warranty period! Like this Hotpoint one, which says:
It is a shame you can no longer confirm what your warranty actually says, isn't it?10 Year parts guarantee
Hotpoint also offers you a free 10 year parts guarantee. This additional guarantee is conditional on you registering your appliance with us and the parts being fitted by one of our authorised engineers. There will be a charge for our engineer’s time.0 -

No need to be a smart !!!, of course I've heard of warranties like that but this is a motherboard, not a washing machine.0 -
I've stopped buying from Ebuyer because of their proportional refund policy.i know it's legal but it's made me vote with my feet.0

It's just a shame that you haven't heard of reading what the warranty that you purchased actually covered whilst you still had the document in your possession.
For all you know, what ebuyer are doing might be permissible according to the T&C's of your warranty.0 -
It's been asked twice already and ignored, but I'll try asking this time ... please provide the link to the Rev.2 mobo on the Ebuyer website that still offers the 3 year warranty.0
