So reading the above am I right in thinking you can upgrade on refresh and when you get the airtime and device you can cancel the airtime contract and just pay off the phone in full ???? ( it's just really a phone I'm after as I'm on a very good sim only deal .........

Yes, but not in that order.

If you clear the phone plan first, you are then free to upgrade again or leave O2 altogether without termination fees.

Would be a bit of a messy way to just get hold of a phone though to be honest. From what I recall the phone plan prices aren't particularly competitive anyway. (i.e. iPhone 6 64GB is £729.99 on O2 phone plan, but can be bought for £619 direct from Apple)

    Not really.
O2 Refresh deals aren't uncommon at HUKD as the cheapest way of getting a 'sim-free' phone.

Nice. I guess it's just a case of doing the appropriate research on the phone you want. The phones I have looked at have always been expensive on O2 but will take note for future that it isn't the case all the time.

It was on hot UK deals. Before that I think I saw people were getting an I phone really really cheaply ...... Must keep a look out
    Thanks
