3rd party hit my car, not yet admitted liability?

A car reversed into me several weeks ago and caused damage to my bumper which will need replacing.

At the time, the chap admitted full liability. All subsequent phone calls from him have been recorded.
The police were called at the time in order to get the traffic moving and I do have a log ref.

Although I reported the accident to the insce co. at the time, the chap then contacted me to say he didn't want to go through insce and would pay privately.
However, we have reached a stalemate, although he agreed to pay for the damage, he won't cover the cost of car hire for the 3 days or so my car will be off the road.
As I need my car daily for work, and the fact that I don't see why I should be out of pocket for something that wasn't my fault, I have been chasing this up ever since through my insce.

I have been told that whilst his insce co. have sent out an accident report to the 3rd party, he hasn't returned it, I don't want to go ahead and get my repairs done as the XS is rather high and I will struggle to cover this, pending getting it reimbursed by other insce co.

Is there anything I can do to speed things up? Annoyed that at the time, he assured me everything would be taken care of and not to worry!

You did agree your excess when taking out the policy (what will you do if you have a claim that is your fault or for damage by an unidentified third party etc?)

Your insurer has no interest in chasing over this as they have no expenses to claim for unless you claim off them.

The third party is clearly not going to co-operate personally.

All you can do if you don't intend making a claim off your own policy is pursue the third party or their insurer (either yourself or instruct an accident management company)

I have had this exact same issue twice in the past. The TP just seems to hope that by doing nothing the problem will go away. It is not however a stalemate. The TP is liable so therefore write to the TP with two estimates for repair plus add on the hire car charges and say as he has failed to contact his insurers, you will be suing him for the lower amount (of the two estimates) + car hire costs if he either fails to pay you within 7 days or to reply to his insurers and have them contact you within 7 days. If still nothing begin a small claim against the TP.

If you are not willing to involve your insurers, use a no win, no fee, no blame, credit repair/car hire company to get your car repaired replacement car hire without it costing you a bean.

Best buy a 50p sim card though as you will be hounded for the next 6 years about injury claims.

Because of the high excess makes it uneconomical to use when you have a small bump like this.

Well, it's mandatory to pay for it but often not worth the expense of claiming
Change is inevitable, except from a vending machine.

Can you not just insist that the work is carried out at a place that provides a courtesy car? there are plenty about... Why does it need to be a hire car?

I'm not covered for a courtesy car under my insce. However, as my insce co. will be claiming against the TP insce, then they have said I can also claim for a hire car whilst the repairs are being done.
The garage which my insce have instructed me to use do not provide cars.
The XS is £650, I won't go into the why's, nothing sinister, just bloody annoying to have to find that sort of money up front, then try and fight the TP to get it back, plus cost of car hire.

You won't have to find any money at all if you don't claim and use a claims management company who will organise a replacement car as well as your repairs.
