accidentally divulging bank details

    Often, these first details can be the beginning of the scam, to test who is more likely to be a victim. These basic details are then sold on or the victim placed on a target list - increasing the chances of further attempts for more details.

    Alternatively these basic bank details can indeed be used to set up a DD, to another bank, then another account who's credentials have also been compromised to a further extent allowing the fraudster(s) to launder the cash out of the banking system.

    It needs to be kept in mind millions of these emails are sent out and the resulting harvested 'basic' information is then used as a building block and dissipated to many other sources of fraud / scam activity.
