A few years ago I was offered a tenner for changing my feedback from negative to positive too. For some reason I felt sorry for them, no idea why, but thought they must've been desperate if they were offering money. More fool me. Anyway, after changing it I haven't heard from them again and of course I didn't get a tenner. Lesson learned! Never again!

I'm surprised to read that this is not against EBay rules as Negative feedback does warn others what to expect at times. Surely if so many people did that then the Negative/Positive system wouldn't be worth having?

I would just add to the feedback that the company tried to bribe me to change it.

Offering money is offering customer service to improve the buyer experience. If the first time you find out a customer is not happy is through feedback then it is a form of resolution.
I just ordered a product that was meant to be with me last Thursday, due to a fault I was told it wouldn't arrive until Monday but was offered a cash incentive to the value of the current order off the next order. I was more than happy with that. It's common business practice to offer money in some form to resolve a problem.
There aren't any principled customers that you can't buy off. Even the most annoyed customer would remove a neg for a ridiculous amount of money.

As a couple of peeps above have said, there's pretty much zero chance of getting paid.
