Being offered £25 to change my neg f/b to pos...

Just this morning I left negative feedback for a seller on eBay after they failed to deliver a furniture set I ordered as it had 'fallen off the pallet' and magically they didn't have a replacement to send out to me (despite having lots in stock listed) and cancelled the order, causing me to waste a day's leave from work.

I've just received the following message from them:

Hi

Thank you for leaving your feedback.

We believe you was not happy with you transaction, to rectify the matter we are offering you compensation of £25 for the inconvenience caused. This can be sent to your paypal account.

All we ask is if you are willing to change your feedback from negative to positive. If you agree please advise and we can send you a feedback revision request.

Kind Regards

Am I right in saying this is frowned on by eBay?

Ironically I could do with the money but don't see why I should change my feedback, especially when it helps other buyers. Do eBay take any notice of stuff like this? Is this common? A scam?

It isn't frowned on in fact eBay encourage sellers to work things out with buyers- and some of the things they suggest are much more intrusive than merely buying their way out of poor feedback.

Thanks. They have just texted me with a shortened version of the above which I find quite intrusive!! (They had my mobile number from when I organised courier delivery with them)

Ask for half upfront and half after you've changed it, that way at least you'll have something. I usually lose my principles when people start throwing money at me!

Yes it's nasty, but it will teach them a lesson.

That's really awful, however much I disagree with them trying to buy pos feedback, your idea is even worse. I really hope there aren't many people who would stoop to the level you suggest.

Not just nasty, it's obtaining money by deception, so possibly a criminal offense.
