Monday 18th May - What small DFW things will you do today?

Options
When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym

But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free.

Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.

So be proud of those small steps, they really are important! :money:

Savvy Shopper! I've been Money Tipped!
    Morning
Thanks for the start Ziggy. When do you go away?

It is looking like a very wet start here. It's just so inconsistent at the moment. Yesterday was scorching. Praying for my family not to get too soaked riding to school or me doing the school run later.
I want to make some more progress on the garden today but won't be till this evening. Yesterday I managed to weed and clear one border in the front of the house and plant 6 rosemary plants that I have grown from cuttings. I also weeded the area just outside our house on the pavement where grass and other stuff had grown up. It looks a lot tidier. I need to carry on weeding the front garden in little batches this week.

I hope for a good days trade at work.

    Bye for now

    Bob

    Hi everyone :hello:

Thanks for the kick off Ziggy! :A

Big hello to everyone else who follows

Wow - didn't my weekend go by in a blur with working on Saturday!!

I didn't even get a chance to go food shopping and we are out of porridge  - there's only one solution - buy a pastry on the way to the office! :naughty:

Will go to @ldi this evening to stock up on goodies

Have totted up my money spready - it's actually looking pretty good! :T I'm up about £100 a month from this time last year. When we move into our new cheaper house that will really start to make a difference, I'm sure. And I'm due a pay rise before then. Yay :T

Also continuing on my Kon-quest :rotfl: (do you see what I did there??!) - Clearing out paperwork!! Wow - liberating!

    Catch up soon everyone!

    Hi :hello:
Thanks for starting us off Ziggy

I see you are following the Kon Marie thread as well, La E? A really good idea if you are thinking of moving - I wish I had done this before we last moved

Hope you have a good day Bob :)
Pouring with rain here as well :(

We were supposed to be getting logs today, but the thought of trundling up and down the garden with bags of logs and stacking them in the rain has limited appeal....

    So, list for today:
    Check banks
Go in to Santander branch and sort new ISAs, as the interest rate on the current ones has dropped to nearly nothing. I will simply move them to new accounts at the same bank (because they offer a good deal). Why should that be necessary? The money won't be going anywhere - but if I don't do this pointless bit of admin, we get no interest, and if I do, we will get a little bit. Why are banks so cynical?
Make a loaf in the BM
Maybe make a cake of some kind :)
    Meals from stores
    Clean bathroom
Probably carry a lot of wet logs later :(

Hope everyone reading / posting has a good day :)

:grinheart Help OH find cheapest DVD offer online. Done.

    :grinheart Royal Mail Surveys. Done.

:grinheart Go for a long run later if apathy doesn't set in. :oToo tired; giving it a miss for first time in ten weeks.

    Morning Campers,
Well, bit of a soggy camper here. Just had a jog down to the greenhouse to check on veggies. It's pouring with rain, hasn't stopped all morning. Cat sulking. Today's money saving things:
*Did last of this week's laundry overnight on Economy 7 tariff (half price of day time).
*No chance of hanging stuff out to dry. It's all on the airer, but I'm hoping not to have to switch it on.
*Did rubber chicken duties. Had a roast dinner yesterday & I've divvied the remainder up to make a stir-fry tonight, fajhitas tomorrow, a stew & a sandwich filling. Everything else in slow cooker ready to switch on over night (cheap tariff again!) to make stock.
*Made tomorrow's packed lunch & work snacks.
    *Baked biscuits for raffle prize.
*Did mid-month Budget Check-in. Had been feeling a bit out of control because of swapping various budgets around this month, but all is now restored to order. A stupidly big final grocery shop would NOT be good with how things are looking, but we have loads of food in, so I will aim to meal-plan to the end of May sometime this week to keep things organised.
*Transferred £30 (freed up by using survey gift cards for groceries) to savings.
Still plenty of day left & aiming to get lots more stuff done, but that's my money saving efforts for now.
Best wishes to everyone for a Great Money Saving Week.
