You'll probably not like this answer either: you can't bag a switching bonus if you try to switch an account from person A to person B as the account holder must be the same for the old and the new account.0 -

that's fine - she has her own account, Nationwide....which is about to end its high apr rate....so switching will work out fine.
No minimum term as far as I can see in the T&Cs so shouldn't be a problem to change my account type anyway0 -

I've searched and can't find an answer, hence asking.
Pinkdalek....from what you're saying, I gather you can't convert it back to a Reward online then? Well worst case I guess I'll just close the account, and then make a new one under my partners name (which would also net me a switching bonus too I think)
You can do what you want to achieve.
Switching bonus is applicable to existing customers as well as new ones as long as you haven't switched to them since Jan 2012.
I was being cynical, but you will have to phone or visit branch to revert it back as you can't do it online sadly.0 -
Thanks pinkdalek....it was more aimed at the rest of them lol.
Anyway, I rang them. Whilst doing so I also noticed the card has expired 6 months ago. Turns out they never issued a new card (I never use that card anyway only online banking/direct debits). They confirmed no minimum term and insurance valid straight away (subject to pre existing conditions of course).
I might still keep it anyway....as will be on another longer vacation around sept/oct time......as it may be an issue to milk it more and resign up again at a later date0 -
If you change that Nationwide FlexDirect to a plain FlexAccount you'll get free European travel insurance as long as you pass £1000 through the account each month.Midnight_Tboy wrote: »that's fine - she has her own account, Nationwide....0 -
thanks - I've upgraded it now anyway
. I did consider upgrading her Nationwide account to the premium one but thought the perks for now with Halifax were better. She does not drive either...at least in my name, I'm in more cars more often through work etc with colleagues so can potentially have bit extra use out of it. 0 -
hello,
I work for the above mentioned bank although I dont open the accounts, you can downgrade from Ultimate Reward Current Account (URCA) art any time, but you will pay the monthly fee pro rata for the amount of time the account has been active.
in regard to the travel insurance clause Im not too sure if you will be covered for your trip as this was booked before the URCA travel insurance will be active, so if you had to claim, the holiday was booked before you were covered so they may not pay out!!! always worth getting insurance to cover holidays before you go on within a few days especially if you want to be covered for cancellation....
you can upgrade to the URCA account online without having to go into branch and as others have said you will need to make an appointment for a hour and watch a video about the URCA and all the benefits the account comes with, if you think it will be easier you can accept the T&C online when you upgrade...
hope this helps :-)

thanks - it does

So.....when you say I wouldn't be covered.....would that just be the instances of cancellations, abandonment and other issues actually relating to the flight? Surely the holiday itself, say in the event of an injury, it would not matter?
We booked the flights before taking out the cover. The apartment itself, we have just put deposit down on, and have to pay when we arrive.
Even in normal circumstances when you book a package holiday, I believe the agents try to sell their own insurance, or tell you you must make sure you get your own insurance arranged...which is generally after the booking has been made. First I've heard about needing to have travel insurance in place before even making the booking0 -
A generic quote from moneysupermarketTaking out travel insurance when you book your holiday will not cost you a penny more, yet as long as you've ensured cancellation is included, you'll be protected from the minute you've bought it.
From the minute I've bought it - so technically my insurance is active now.
Fair enough....if something went wrong between booking and now I'd have had no cover...but that implies I have full cover.
I do understand the differences when taking single trip cover though. As in most people tend to say they want the cover to start from the day of departure...which means they don't get the protection if anything happens before then0
