That suggests to me that they're trying to make the entry price look more attractive, but a £1.50 per month discount for existing customers agreeing to a new 12 month contract would be of limited appeal, in my opinion.
“Entry level” pay-tv is clearly where Sky face higher competition and the problem with the Original Bundle in that market is that it is a package consisting primarily of Entertainment & Lifestyle in standard definition. Anybody that wants a selection of Documentary, Music or Kids channels requires a subsequent upgrade to £30 per month (Variety Bundle); and to £36 per month (Family Bundle) if they'd like any of the content in HD.
Other providers have options that include these genres and HD at a much lower price, albeit that there may be a smaller selection.
Personally, I wouldn’t tie myself to a particular package/provider for a potential discount of £18 over 12 months.0 -
Yeah like freeview HD which is free.0

I agree. YouView from both BT and TT provide much cheaper alternatives. A smaller but broader subset. And standalone Sky Sports as well. Don't 'cha just love competition?0
