Why Is This Board So Judgemental?

Fair amount of posters on here are very nasty, judgemental and downright disrespectful, but thankfully they are in a minority. On top of that we have had a government who for the past five years have really slaughtered those on benefits and various threats of doing this and that to them to get the economy back on track. Why do the trolls do it? Because they can. Because these harbingers of misery hide behind an internet wall and really have the moral fibre of a badly educated worm. Best to ignore them, report posts and complain about harassment.

Many of the threads are overtaken by a certain troll, currently posting as billywilly. But he only continues to post because people feed him. Threads would remain on topic, and be far more constructive, if people stopped responding to him.

You are also one of the trolls.

  • I think it's hard to stay neutral because some people accept what they are entitled to and are grateful for any help available where as others constantly complain that it's not enough, and sometimes yes it's true but not always.

So it's an issue with self control?

When you have forums, you have opinions.

Some peoples opinions may offend others, does that make them an offensive person, not always.

If someone post something that opposes someone else's views, then it should not always be deemed to be offensive.

Personal attacks are a different matter, and are not acceptable in any way shape or form, and have no place in this forum.

Benefits are a particularly emotive subject, with those in receipt of them, strongly passionate about them, and the importance of maintaining them. Then there are people who are not on benefits, and feel that they are funding people through their own hard work and why should people get money for doing nothing.

Then there is the majority of people, who sit in the middle. Like my self I see the need for a system to help the needy, vulnerable and disadvantages. Taxation is the sign of a developed culture, if my taxes go towards helping someone less well off than me, then that is my contribution to society.

The sticking point comes, when you have people who are work shy and !!!!less, riding the same cart as those that are genuinely unable to work. That is when opinions start to change.

Ultimately, for this forum to work, both sides need to base their posts on fact, not emotion or hearsay. Not to judge the claimant, or for the claimant to complain about the lack of benefits available.

Simple fact is people here are offering help, advice and opinion for free. If you want impartial, objective advice with no emotive factor then go seek professional advice!

Your argument would only hold if its the same people doing all of those things.

Don't hang off the tailcoats of those doing good, in order to justify your bullying.

It seems to me that posters on here are quite happy to post a positive spin on everything. We all know that there are two sides to every opinion, so for the sake of balance why is it a 'crime' to post a negative view?

If all we posted on here was the 'good sided story' we would be in danger of lulling people into a false sense of security.

On the other hand personal insults (there are many) have no place on these forums.
