O/S Daily Thread Sunday 17th May

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine

Morning all,
Beautiful day here shame I am off to work ! it will be busy as its such a nice day oh well at least its only one day over the weekend.
Did a lot more work in mums new place yesterday, I hung all the curtains and lampshades while my sis cleaned the kitchen right through, its looking beautiful, mum is slightly worried about living on her own again but I am literally seconds away and I think she will love it once she is in.
OH in charge of domestics today he will do the online shopping and cook dinner which will involve pork chops.
Elona so glad yesterday went well take lots of time now to just be xx
Right better get on have good days all xx0 -
Morning all
Hugs to Elona, Molly, LW, Hilly,BB & anyone else in need.
Yesterday I looked after DGD who is 8 months old & belongs to DD2, DD1 visited with 4 of her children so I got to see my 1 year old twin DGC's as well.
DD2's summer fete was a great success, so that was good, she put so much effort into it. So it should have raised lots of money for the DGC's school.
I'm feeling a little better, there is nothing like a cuddly baby to bring down the blood pressure, the weather was good so we sat in the garden on a quilt for a lot of the time. Unfortunately the stress of Friday has triggered a diverticulitis attack, so I need to be extra careful what I eat for a few days.
Hubby & I have a cuppa, the fish are glaring at me from the tank, waiting for breakfast, so I'll feed them in a sec.
Hubby has a lamb shank for his lunch, so I'll do that with roasties & veg
Have a good day everyone.

Morning one and all. It doesn't know what to do today - one minute sunny, then spitting and some thick cloud above. I went out to feed the birdies and it felt quite nippy.
ELONA I'm so pleased yesterday went as well as you could hope. You are one inspiring lady and your DH must have been so proud to have you as his wife. HILSTEP I feel for you I know what it's like to watch a parent suffer too.
Well yesterday didn't go to plan and ended up a very expensive day! We have already had to make two unforeseen purchases this week (caravan battery £70 and the ceramic hob £150) but they say everything comes in threes!! I went out to the freezer in the garage to get out a chicken and found it had it gone kerput! It's a very elderly upright and we've felt it was living on borrowed time for a while but postponed replacing it. I was in a panic as it was stuffed to the gunnels. We have a chest one too but that is full of foraged berries, bags of veg and bread so no room in there. We needed a new one immediately so Curr*s was a no-no!! We went to the small electrical store in town and he had just the thing, ready to take away there and then! What a job getting the old one emptied and down the steps into the garage and the new one back up the steps. Mr TA is unwell and I'm not at my best so it was a slow job. By the time it was in place and switched on a lot of the food was starting to thaw.
None of my planned jobs got done after that, we just collapsed for the rest of the day!! Today the hob is being delivered (yes, on a Sunday!) so hope we don't have any problems with that!
Have a good day all, take care ((((HUGS))))) to those in need xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -

elona I'm so pleased yesterday went well for you. Take a bit of time for yourself now xx
LameWolf I've only just caught up properly with the past few days' posts – I'm glad you've sorted the money xx
KnittaPlease I've got a mum like that, I'm slowly distancing myself from her but have to put up with her rubbish for a whole week next month. Dreading it.

I've forgotten everything else I've read – is it possible for a human to have puppy-brain?:rotfl:
I'm seriously tempted to buy skates and just let Scampi pull me along when we're out and about
I have three blue tops which are fine but faded a bit. I can't decide whether to keep them or not so I've put them to one side for now, if I decide to wear them again, I'll dye them first. I know I have a pack of blue dye in the house somewhere but I have no idea where it is
My tomato plants need attention so I'll sort them this morning. There's lots of flowers on the strawberry plants, I noticed this morning that some have dropped their petals and there are tiny green strawberries appearing, this has made my dayI've almost finished my latest blanket, I just need to do a border. I'll get that done today. I haven't picked up my book for days so I'm looking forward to doing a bit of reading too.

Good Morning all, bright and sunny here today .It would have been my late Oh's birthday today bless him,he would have been 82.I am spending it with youngest DD and family and we will probably go out with the boys ,maybe to the country park for a long walk with the dogs or even if warm enough the beach, as it was his favourite place.
Its almost 12 years since he passed away and the time has flown, but he is not forgotten and we will have a good time today remembering all the daft things he did, and the way he spent most of his life laughing.
A great way to remember a very nice gentle man who adored his family, his country and his beloved football team Crystal Palace who won yesterday over the mighty Liverpool (he would have loved that:):)
So a bright day ahead for me and my family,we are all so pleased that we shared his life, and although sad he is no longer around I only have to look at my grandsons to see traits of him in them.
I hope you all have a good day whatever you are doing

Morning All
Sunshine and heavy showers here, washing in the conservatory again. Managed to get some bits done in the garden yesterday between the showers, had a roast chicken dinner last night, DD and I wolfed it down!
Hugs JackieO, have a lovely day remembering.
LW, glad your money worries aren't as bad as you feared.
hilstep - I think we know when our elderly parents have had enough, such a difficult time.
I hope that's your 3 things TA!
Nothing much planned today apart from a funeral service at 6pm, need to make DS2s bed up for DDs friend who is staying on Friday.
Enjoy Sunday. Take care. XX0 -
Middle DD has gone off to America for a week on a work trip and left around 6a.m.
Youngest DD and older DD and SIL are still here. Can hear movement so will offer breakfast and tea etc and then see if they fancy lunch out.
Hugs to all
Jackie O
Enjoy remembering DH and the company of family.

Morning everyone.
I woke at 5.30am to the sound of driving rain and the sight of low grey cloud. Couldn't see more than 100 yards. Now it's like a whole new place, bright blue sky and dry.
Yesterday was very blowy so I decided to peg my washing out. Now I know it's a very everyday activity but I haven't been able to do it all my adult life as I've always lived in flats. The pleasure of seeing sheets blowing in wind in my own garden was so lovely and the smell of them afterwards was the smell of my childhood. Am loving the re-discovery of happiness in small things.
Today I have to search for my old Filofax which I know is in the house but exactly where is just defeating me. It's not in any of the places I would expect it to be and it's annoying the heck out of me.
Will be fridge foraging so no plans there.
Hope everyone is doing well.0 -
Older DD and SIL have gone off to look at a house and youngest will be going back to uni after lunch.
We still have lots of salad etc so going to defrost some YS steak to go with it.
Will get them to help me shift the superking mattress and topper later so I can change the bedding.
Hugs to all."This site is addictive!"

Good morning,
It started off lovely but is now overcast and looks like rain, I have washing out so must keep an eye out.
Lamb with all the trimmings for lunch, together with lashings of mint sauce mmmmm.
TA do you think your op might have solved the problem, or are you still troubled with it. I wondered whether your rest at the caravan had done the trick.
Elona, if you do manage to go out for lunch I hope you enjoy it. You have had so much to do it would be good to be waited on.
Have a good Sunday
