Thank you Aunty Margaret, that's the one I meant but I couldn't think of the name. At least I'll be doing more for the environment than polluting the atmosphere :D

A coffin's just a waste of good wood really :D

I keep telling dh I want to be stuffed and mounted but I couldn't repeat his response :)
Organised people are just too lazy to look for things

My Nana had a humanist funeral a couple of years ago. She was adamant that she wanted no religious content & the "minister" (not sure that's the correct term) was very good. Google humanist funeral or burial for more info. There is a leaflet you can get hold of.

We had a 'humanist' funeral for my Dad. We were given a contact by a relative but the funeral directors knew of the lady too. She came to our house and spoke to us about my father and when she left we all said that she would never be able to get it right as he was such an unusual character. She sent us through a copy of what she was going to say for us to check - and it was absolutely PERFECT!! She really summed up his personality, and understood what was important to him - really couldn't fault it at all - the 'service' was beautiful.

A friend of mine attended a 'green' burial and she found it upsetting because she didnt know what to expect, trudging through a muddy field to bury a dear friend in a cardboard coffin. Prepare people for what to expect.

    I have done reading too!

to purify the mind- that is the
    teaching of the Buddhas.
