Atheist funeral

I know this might seem morbid, but when an atheist dies, do they have a funeral? If so, does anyone have any information?

Simply let the Funeral Directors know, they will contact someone who will come and speak to you about the deceased and perform a "non-religious" service. HTH

I have been to a couple of funerals where there was no religious content, one was a former colleague who sadly died of cancer aged 32. He planned his own humanist service including music etc, it was very moving.

Is there a secular society, humanist group or an environmental organisation near you? They would know about 'alternative' funerals. Everyones body has to be disposed of legally and properly, so some sort of funeral is nigh on essential unless you want no-one to say goodbye to you, or you could always leave your body to a medical school.

I went to a humanist service recently - it was carried out very well and the person was a true professional. The Cremetorium / cemetary / funeral directors should have details. There might even be something on the web.

If it appeals to you, have a look at this: https://www.green-burial.co.uk This is a way that moggins can be 'wrapped in a shroud and shoved under a tree' as s/he says s/he wants.

We have informed all our relevant family members that this is what we want. You can have any kind of service, non-service, humanist, atheist, whatever you want.
