Phone up EE and haggle is my advice.
  • My contract ran out with orange yesterday too.

I've spoken to them a few times and all I get is discount on the handset. They refuse to discount the tariff price and i've been with them for 10 years!

Even telling them I can get what I want with O2 cheaper they wont even attempt to match it. It seems they dont want to retain customers and want new customers who will pay the ludicrous prices
  • Hi,

Maybe too late but thought it worth sharing my experience with EE this week.

We have two phones with EE on one account, mine and my wife's. My wife has been on a SIM only deal for a while and decided it was time to update her phone. Settled on an entry level Lumia at £9.50 per month (300 mins and 500mb data). Phoned EE and they wouldn't match so got the PAC code for her phone and ordered the Lumia online.

A couple of days later EE phoned me again but with a better offer - Lumia 635 with 500 mins and 500mb at £7.49 p/m. In addition they gave me an early upgrade on my phone (choice of harrier mini or Lumia 640) for £13.99 with 500mins and 500mb (which will be 'boosted' to 10gb as I took broadband at the same time). All three months early and without charge.

All that remains is for me to return the ordered phone (without opening the box).

So I would say don't be afraid to walk away. My guess is they are wise to their reputation for haggling and are trying to take a harder stance but ultimately don't want to lose customers.

Its more about the amount of money you make for them, not loyalty. If you are a low spending customer they will be less likely to offer anything as it may not be worth keeping you.

Generally spacewalking for everyone leaving a network someone joins, so all networks are trying to get rid of the low spending customers to others..
