Hey!
So- i was wondering how you all deal with stress?
im 22 FTB, and buying on my own, im going with aldermore as have great credit just not a right lot of it (stayed away from credit) , after reading awful reviews so far my experience with them has been great and i have an amazing point of contact there
Dip done, Application done , Documents in, just waiting on the valuation solicitor etc sorted.
so- in daily life i have always had horrendous anxiety and take regular medication, but seriously....... WHAT IS THIS?! haha this is seriously one of the most stressful situations ive ever done in my life, im not sleeping or eating and its all thats on my mind 99.9% of the time..
what if the mortgage company says no after all this? what if the vendor pulls out? what if the sky falls down and a cloud hurts the house? literally EVERYTHING, ALL THE TIME.
how do you all deal with this? cant even manage

Hi,
You're not the only one. I have now had my mortgage offered and solicitor now in possession of contract and carrying out searches.
I've gone from stressing about mortgage being accepted and waiting for valuation. Then stressing when the sellers solicitor hadn't sent the contract to my solicitor. I'm now stressing about the exchange. I'll cross my fingers that everything goes smoothly for you.:)0 -
Haha oh dear!
So looks like its just one thing after the other??
oh !!!!!!! lol ill look like kate moss by the end of this process i swear to god
i hope everything goes okay for you too! horrible process. :mad:0 -
Look. It is commonly accepted that there is only one thing in normal life (I exclude war etc) more stressful than property purchase, and that's divorce.
Marriage? Piece of cake!
New job? Walk in the park!
Redundancy? Tough, but not that tough.
So just try to chill. Accept that it will be slow. It will be frustrating. There will be uncertainty. It may fall through.
Be calm, be patient. don't get your knickers in a twist.
And consider it a learning experience as well as a home-finding process.
ps - Kate is gorgeous....0 -
Thanks!
i think im just not cut out for this kind of stress to be fair, living with bad anxiety in general, this has just sent me over the edge.
how many purchases actually do fall through? is it alot?
i think im just stressing myself more pouring over posts on here that sometimes are serious worse case scenarios.
argh! im never ever moving again after this!
haha she totally is but i fear ill be super duper skinny after this process lol. :rotfl:0 -
Remember that people only post here for help when they have problems.
For every problem posted here, there are 99 problem-free purchases progressing slowly but smoothly.
PM when you get to look like her......0 -
It is quite a stressful process but OH and I keep telling ourselves that if it happens, it happens, and if the purchase falls through, we'll just have to find something else. It'll all be worth it in the end when we finally have our own place (living with the in-laws at the moment, which comes with its own problems).
I will breathe a sigh of relief when we finally exchange contracts.Sometimes our light goes out but is blown into flame by another human being. Each of us owes deepest thanks to those who have rekindled this light.

oh wow in-laws! i dont envy you, i just rent with the dog lol
yeah i hope things go smoothly for you too!
sounds as though its a grin and bare it situation and try to be a bit more blas!, or completely drug myself up on anxiety meds for the next few months.
i know i need to calm down just i never take my own advise. i work nights so i have lots of free time to be a complete MSE stalker and see everyones problems0 -
We fell for two houses and had offers rejected on both (one the first, the vendors kept us hanging around for over three weeks before they came to a final decision; on the second, the EA messed us around) so buy the time we found the third house, I was completely paranoid that something would happen and it wouldn't work out. Offer accepted (in Scotland), mortgage all fine, the whole thing went pretty smoothly, but I was stressed throughout worrying about the "what ifs"! Distraction techniques were probably the best I could manage.0

Im so glad it all worked out for you this is the first house i offered on and its round the corner from where i live now. it sucks for someone to keep you on tender hooks like that!
And atleast the process has gone smoothly once you found the third housei hope my situation will be similar.
yeah distraction techniques might be worth a try for me, im going on holiday in september so ill try look forward to that and ignore all these awful demons in my head.
cant believe how you all get through this! :eek:0 -

Yes, focus on your holiday! That's a great thing to be thinking about! :j
It's incredibly stressful while you're going through all this but it will be worthwhile once you've come through the other side0
