fox has taken up residence in back garden

As per title
A fox has decided to create a den under my wooden shed - i assume to raise a litter
as I type right now it is sleeping quite brasenly in the open at the back of my garden in full view of the neighbours
TBH I dont use the garden much & dont have kids so Im not overly concerned myself
Can I get in trouble with the local council over this ? - are they considered vermin that need to be dealt with ?
Just wondering what others would do in this situation

Living in the country and keeping ducks, chicken and geese, I would be disposing of it's body.0

No you can't get into trouble, and they will keep any rats you have around down. If it was me I would be installing cameras attached to motion sensors to see what goes on when I was tucked up in bed.0

still asleep - I guess it will be dusk before he/shes up & about
ive heard my back gate rattle loudly in the night so it was probably the fox as cats are quieter
I suspect the neighbours might be concerned about their pets e.g. possibility of spreading mange to a pet dog or maybe even killing a pet cat since its a biggish fox
good to know the council cant give me any grief if the neighbours kick up a fuss as the fox doesnt really bother me - bit of den digging that needs clearing but cant really see any fouling0 -
It will bother you soon enough. Your garden will begin to stink and the Cubs will keep you awake all night.0

The fouling comes when the pack of foxhounds and the horses arrive:D:D
On a serious note whilst I understand you aren't encouraging it, I do think you need to discourage itI like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.
Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)
Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed0 -
You may have to share your garden with the fox as legally, there are only two methods that can be used to dispose of foxes:
Shooting
Cage trapping, in combination with the administering of a lethal injection......................I'm smiling because I have no idea what's going on ...:)

2015's fox cubs should all have been born by now and most of them ventured out of the den for the first time.are they considered vermin that need to be dealt with ?
Foxes are not considered vermin and councils have no obligation to take any action (although some will if asked). Killing foxes is ineffective as another fox will take over the territory within weeks. If they are not wanted steps can be taken to deter them from a particular location.or maybe even killing a pet cat since its a biggish fox
Foxes will usually run from cats, it would view the cat as a threat rather than a prey item.0 -
Foxs don't generally kill cats. they may take a kitten but we never had any problem with the den behind out house and our young cats.0
