rotfl, dual heritage :rotfl::rotfl: is that the latest in-word now?

It used to be half-caste, then that was replaced with mixed race (I tend to use the latter)

heritage sounds like a National Trust building :D

You do realise how offensive your post is don't you?

The use of offensive language (even when quoting the past) is simply not acceptable and you imply that as you 'tend' to use mixed race you also use half-caste. Maybe look up definition of that language.

Just because something was acceptable in the past (slavery , child labour etc) doesn't mean it is now.

The term mixed-race is fine. Half-caste sounds a bit old-fashioned now.

    :

It isnt old fashioned- it is offensive! Look it up. I am sure that people who describe themselves as 'very white' would be very keen to use a word like this.

    LOL!

When I was a kid in the seventies, my Sindy/Barbie dolls came second-hand from the family next door.
There were two dolls and they had a whole deep box full of clothes. it was fantastic!

But when I undressed them, the white doll had a flower-power tattoos inked all over her body and the black doll now had nipples - a pair of cherry red pearl stud earrings stuck in each boob!

Those two nice older girls next door were obviously a bit more progressive than we all thought ...

Progressive, or just realists? Feral Cheryl has a tattoo, piercings and pubic hair but strangly no nipples. My daughter had one and thought it very strange that this detail had been missed off and I went to her site today and found the poor thing still has no nipples.

Someone put it very succinctly on another thread, -

"those with an axe to grind will always find a method"

There is nothing offensive in my post, but feel free to find offence if you're so inclined.

    Just to clarify

and please quit your passive-aggressive comments.

I think we both know what you are implying, and it's disgusting.

I know a lady whose son has had two bowel and a multiple organ transplant, who has set up her own business making Superhero dolls designed by children like her son. Having dolls with anything they want, such as transplant scars, etc, give them a boost when undergoing multiple invasive treatments. Because they can identify with them.

I see no reason why a child without these conditions shouldn't enjoy playing with them either - there were adults who dismissed or ridiculed the idea of having black or dual heritage dolls once, but most (hopefully) have grown up past that stage now.

:rotfl: That's a new one on me too j.e.j. Dual Heritage?!

Also I have to agree that the 'professionally offended' will find any excuse to have a go at ANYthing anyone says.

I get sick of people getting offended on behalf of others.

No matter what you do - or don't say, someone will get offended by it and find a reason to whine. And terminology snobbery does my head in.

Duel heritage sounds daft to me. What's more; many people are from backgrounds that are from more than 2 races. I have a mix of THREE races in my blood, so am I TRI-RACIAL, or am I triple heritage? :rotfl:

All of it is just so silly. People should be allowed to say what they want without being jumped on by the politically correct 'professionally offended!'

Talk about making kids stand out and feel different?

Has anyone seen the episode of Southpark where the Nurse with the foetus on her head has a festival named after her etc and she says they made her feel like a freak?

This reminds me of this. We should teach our children ourselves to treat everyone the same regardless.

Shocked at this post! Are you for real? You are seriously using this term, and trying to convince everyone that it's OK? OMG!

I am just as shocked as you 'pleasedelete;' I can't believe that in the 21st century, people still use that term, and even worse, they try and convince themselves, and everyone else that it isn't derogatory. And then try and turn it around to make out it's someone else who is being offensive!

Just google it - almost everywhere you look will tell that this particular term is racist, derogatory and offensive.

I too have a problem with people being offended on behalf of other people, I really don't understand it at all.

It's not a matter of being 'offended on behalf of others;' it's about being disgusted by someone using a derogatory term that died out years ago, and is now classed as very offensive; and in addition to that, this someone uses that term and thinks it's OK, and mocks anyone who is offended by it.

And how do you know I am not mixed race?
