Ending tenancy by mutual agreement mid-month

Hi all, I am ending a 12-month tenancy agreement around a month early in a month's time. We will be 'handing over' the flat around a week before the end of the month period and a new tenant will be moving in and starting their tenancy the next day.
What would be the expected payment arrangement here? What would make sense to me would be to pay pro-rata for the proportion of the month where we are there, however I see lots of places saying that you must pay for an entire month. I understand this where there will be no overlap, but it seems a little unfair if someone else is already renting out the flat for that period?
Any help/advice greatly appreciated!

Whatever you and the LL agree.
You arent paying rent, your paying him to cancel your contract.0 -
How much is the rent per month?"Dream World" by The B Sharps....describes a lot of the posts in the Loans and Mortgage sections !!!0

It's irrelevant.
if the tenant wants to leave early, the LL can ask for any amount of money.0 -
Discuss/agree with your landlord. Then get it confirmed in writing.
If there is a new tenant lined up, it seems fair that you simpy pay rent pro-rata for the number of days you are there that month, but that is not the way the law works, so it depends on agreement.0 -
It's irrelevant.
Not really, if the rent is £300 PCM then the weekly amount, if the Landlord agrees to pro-rata is going to be £69.23...if the rent is £1600 pcm then the weekly amount is £369.23.....I know when I would want to at least ask the question if I could save £300 when moving."Dream World" by The B Sharps....describes a lot of the posts in the Loans and Mortgage sections !!!0 -

It's irrelevant because the LL can ask for WHATEVER amount they want.
This isnt a rent payment, its a payment to end a contract.0 -

OP already said that they are ending the tenancy by mutal agreement, ie the Landlord is happy to end it mid contract.
If the Landlord wanted a fee of £4,000 to end early then the OP's title would read a bit differently."Dream World" by The B Sharps....describes a lot of the posts in the Loans and Mortgage sections !!!0 -

No he can't, he can ask for a maximum of the total rent owed for the remained of the contract. They only have one month left, so he can ask for a maximum of 2 months rent (the month in which they are moving out on week 3 plus the months rent for the remaining month of the tenancy agreement).0 -

If they had agreed an amount the post wouldnt even exist.....
Yes the LL may be happy to end it mid contract because they know they can charge whatever they like.
The OP doesnt know how much the LL wants - so you're being presumtuous. The point im making is OP needs to speak to the Landlord.0 -

No. He can ask for £1,000,000 if he wants.
The tenant wont agree, as obviously its cheaper to pay the rent.l But there is no maximum the Landlord can ask.0
