Old Style Daily thread Friday 15th May

dumpling

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine

Good morning everyone :hello:
I couldn't sleep so I thought I would start us all off this morning. It's looking to be a nice bright day here today which is good after yesterday as it stayed grey and wet for most of the day. My friend came over and instead of going out I made us some lunch and we had a great chat and put the world to rights.
My eldest DD came over with the kids after school and she was telling me all her plans for the wedding. It sounds like it will be a lovely day, I just wish so much that we were in a better way to help her out financially. I have offered to pay for DD13's bridesmaid outfit and will also help her with the invitations etc with my card making skills. I am really looking forward to it even though it's not till next year.
I am having some shopping delivered this afternoon from good old Mr T's and I've ordered some pizzas for tea so no cooking for me. I love Friday's as we usually have a takeaway but as it's a 5 week month we are trrying to stretch the pennies, hence £5 on supermarket pizzas versus £25 from our local pizza place.
I can hear hubby stirring upstairs so I will love you and leave you. Hope you all have a great day whatever you are up to, take care xx0 -
Morning everyone
Thanks for starting us off dumpling.
Birthday wishes to those celebrating a birthday, hope you have a great day x
Hugs and get well wishes to those that want/need them.
Now light, cloudy and overcast and air feels rather cool though.
DH up and gone to work stupid early. DS1 now getting ready for work. Will wake DS2 shortly, so he can get ready for school.
Dinner last night was gammon, egg, new potatoes, peas and green beans, onion sauce for me and the LO HM coleslaw for the menfolk. It was a change to the planned meal but when I checked the date on the gammon steaks the use by date was yesterday – so did a menu re-shuffle, DS1 wasn’t happy as he was looking forward to his lasagne, I’ll be making that at some point next week possibly towards the end of the week then I can save a couple of portions for the boys to have whilst we’re away.
Yesterday was one of those days where I was constantly on the go but don’t feel like I achieved much. I did strip all the beds, and take the bedding and all the dirty washing to the laundrette, when I got to the one I normally go to, I couldn’t get parked, so there’s a newer one on the other side of town so I went there and there was loads of parking space and all the machines are much newer, and the same price so will be going there in future, the only downside is that it closes at 4.30pm and is closed all day on a Wednesday, but as I don’t generally need to use a laundrette it’s no big issue just good to know that it’s there and I can use it if needed. The lady running it is someone that I recognise too. I also got to the PO, bought the bits we needed from the caravan suppliers, delivered the slip to take part in the Yard Sale next month, picked up a couple of bits from MrL, remade all the beds and managed to finally sort out when the WM engineer is coming to fix my WM, apparently this morning between 8-11.30am, we’ll see. I also got all the clean wet washing, dried – either on the line or in the TD and ironed – so whilst I’m waiting for engineer to arrive I’ll pack our bag for this weekend. Once he has been I’ll go to town to visit the bank and then do the food shopping. If I get chance I’ll do some housework too.
Have good Fridays’ everyone x
Keep safe and well x

Good morning all,
Thank you Dumpling for starting us off this morning.
The sun is shining here which is lovely after yesterday's rain, I hope it lasts.
ELONA I want to wish you all the best for tomorow, and that everything runs smoothly. I know it will take a lot of strength but you and the girls will do him proud, I am sure. I will be thinkig of you all.
Must do some washing this morning, but not a great deal more. At some time we need to go to B&Q for some paint for the gate at the front of the house and the larger gate in the back leading to "the secret garden", which is not as exciting as it sounds. I said to Himself yesterday, with all this rain, the greenery seems to be growing by the minute not the day, so as soon as it dries out a bit we must get cracking again.
Have a good day all

Morning one and all, thanks for kicking us off Dumpling. Cloudy start here but it's forecast to brighten up which is good, as I have a pile of washing to peg out.
We got back from our few days at the caravan yesterday afternoon - just in time for the 3 DGDs getting dropped off for tea and sleepover. I had made a big pan of Bolognese at the caravan to assemble a Lasagne when we got back. As usual, they devoured every last bit of it. Along with the plateful of garlic bread.
We had a good few days at the caravan though the weather wasn't up to much. Quite chilly and windy, even when the sun was out. We had a day in Ripon where I scoured the charity shops as usual! Picked up a lovely Jacques Vert skirt for £3, an M & S skirt £3 and a Next skirt for eldest DGD10. We enjoyed a nice lunch out too. The other days just relaxed and read or pottered along with odd jobs. Mr TA did his annual job of varnishing the big picnic table and that looks very smart . Because the birdies are all busy feeding their young it was a full time job keeping the feeders topped up! As usual the site was very quiet and we almost had the place to ourselves. Lovely and relaxing.
We stopped off at Sainsbro on our way home for some odd essentials, just in time for a load of YS stuff getting loaded on the clearance shelf! Good timingI I got some diced beef, chicken, mince and liver to stash away in the freezer.
We need to go shopping for a new ceramic hob this morning as ours went off with a bang last weekend! We are hoping to change it ourselves as we managed to do the last one with no problem. There's always something to eat away at your money!
I'll read back over the week's posts when I have a minute later. Hope everyone is ok. (((((((HUGS))))) if needed. The eldest and youngest DGDs have just got up so peace shattered! Have a good day all and take care xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -
Elona - I'm sure you and your family and friends will give your DH a good send off, whilst so sad and difficult at least you can take comfort in that he is no longer suffering.
I'll be thinking of you all, hope it all runs smoothly and you share some wonderful memories too x

Morning All
Light cloud today, no sunshine yet like yesterday, although there was still a cold wind. I've not got a full load of anything so the washing can wait till tomorrow.
The ironing is done, DW emptied and lunches made, gosh I hope I haven't peaked too early!
Not a lot happening here, hope your lives are a little more interesting!
Elona, I will be thinking of you tomorrow.
Take care. XX0 -
Morning all
Flying visit from me.
I hope tomorrow goes ok Elona.
I've fed the fish, taken hubby a cuppa, eaten breakfast & made the packups.
Time I set off for work.
Have a good day everyone.

Morning all,
Much brighter day than yesterday, it did not stop raining all day yesterday and as I was at the other site this meant that we were very busy and did not really catch up all day. Hopefully today will be a bit quieter and give us chance to catch up.
Meatballs for dinner tonight which I will put in the SC in a while before I go to work, got the wrong day for my shopping being delivered, I thought it was last night but turns out it is tonight so will have to put that away.
Not much else planned for tonight, its been another long week so a relaxing evening would be good, working Sunday as well so need to make the most of my day off.
Elona I hope tomorrow goes really well for you and is a day full of love and memories xx
Have good days all xx0 -
Morning everyone from a bright but cool'ish Glasgow.
Dentist was running half an hour late yesterday but check up went well and then the hygienist did her stuff. Before that I had a mooch around Buchanan Galleries, I wasn't in a shopping mood and on,y bought a packet of clips from Lakeland.
Will be heading back up the road about 9.30am and will detour into Helensburgh for a look around. No need to rush back any more.
Hope that everyone has a good Friday.0 -
Morning all,
Hope you are all well. I'm feeling a lot calmer today, although sleeping certainly had nothing to do with it.
It's a sunny morning so I've pegged all the washing out, and now I'm just going to get ready for a day out in Oxford to have a wander round my favourite museum (Pitt Rivers and Natural History) for free, and take a look at the lovely old Randolph Hotel which had a fire recently, and I want to be nosey!
My 4-year-old niece will be arriving this evening to stay for the weekend, where we'll hopefully be heading to the open air pool for a swimming lesson. I've been teaching her to swim for the last few months, and she's nearly there.
Elona - hope tomorrow goes ok.0
