Hi, I bought refurbed Samsung S8 plus last year, was quite expensive so insured it, with insure and go, it recently broke (screen damage) and after paying insurance monthly for over a year I now realise their insurance does not cover refurbed phones, so I sadly wasnt covered. I feel this is not 100% clear, just says to be eligible then you need to have purchased it in past 6 months, did not say purchase 'new' phone. Plus im sure many people by refurbed phones and wish for it to be insured, so their needs to be more insurance available that offers this no?0

Beware if you buy a phone online. They have a technicality to not pay out. I have just had my claim refused, despite having paid my premium for a couple of years. A technicality in the terms of policy means that they can refuse lots of claims. If you purchase the phone from any company based abroad. Not if you bought the phone abroad. I had two phones that I bought online, one from OnePlus.com (based in China) they operate here but I would have been refused. The second from Wonda Mobile, based in Hong Kong, they refused because of this.
This should be a question when you sign up as thousands of people have phones bought online which aren't based in the UK. I was going to replace with a Google phone, from Google.com but they're as American, this technicality can affect people buying phones direct from loads of companies, Samsung.com, Nokia.com, Apple.com etc none of these are technically based in the UK.0 -
I bought insurance from these guys based on your recommendation. Insurance was for my grandson's phone that I paid for. I was totally honest with them yet when he lost it they refused to pay because he didn't live with me. Unfortunately I couldn't prove what I had been told or that I had told them the situation so the policy was a total waste of money.0

Price is not what the article states. Even the basic insurance is higher than what's quoted

It looks like there was an error somewhere along the line as the MSE site says the cheaper iPhone 11 Pro is showing as more expensive to insure than the 12 Pro which is unlikely to have been correct.
Your screenshot however is before the £10 discount code is applied and inevitably MSE will be considering the price after the discount (not that this fully corrects the issue)0 -
I think the way to go is to have personal possessions cover on your home insurance policy. Mine covers items in or out of the home for up to £1500 per item for accidental damage, loss or theft. My excess is £100 which is £50 less than that of most mobile phone insurers for a top end phone.

These days I’d agree with you if you are buying the latest iPhone etc every couple of years. When new phones were £500 or so it was more questionable especially as most peoples Home excess is higher these days too0
