Slimline dishwasher recommendations......

Options
Hello All

After our microwave dying last week, now our Bosch Dishwasher has decided to give up the ghost too !!

I am after another slimline dishwasher so would like any other recommendations or brands to keep away from.

Our Bosch was a brilliant washer but now after 2.5 years it is uneconomical to repair and sadly out of warranty. Being that we paid a premium for a Bosch I am very disappointed that it only lasted this length of time.

So, do we buy another Bosch OR do we go another route ?

Thank you in advance.

Opinions / statements / comments / advice / all welcomed !

Richard

I've been very happy with our Beko which we got a few years ago. Recently, some little plastic clips broke (bits that hold the top shelf on the runners) but it cost about £3 to replace them. When I had to ring the helpline just after we got it, they were lovely - very helpful and down-to-earth. I don't think I'd get a more expensive brand if we had to replace it.

Really? 2.5 years?? Is that a typo?

My Bosch slimline is 7 years old and still works perfectly (touch wood!). It also came with a 3 year warranty.

2.5 years seems a bit young for a Bosch to be conking out.

No it's not a typo - hence why I am not over impressed !!

Ours had a two year warranty sadly.

I have been to see a couple this morning and they come with a two year 'guarantee' !

We try and buy the best that we can afford and in this case it doesn't seem to be worth it !

What is actually wrong with it and what have you been quoted for repair? My slimline Bosch is still going after 12 years, new filter and PCB repair only in that time.

    What's wrong with it ?

To be honest I cannot remember exactly, but the guy who looked at it told me that as ridiculous as it seemed that it was uneconomical to repair.

Rather than make a quick buck himself he said that he would buy a new dishwasher.

Now that's settled, I've got to get a new one.............

Our first Bosch slimline DW lasted twelve years before it sprung a leak and our present one has been going six years without any problems, may be worth getting a second opinion on a repair.

All the consumer programs I have watched say that something like a dishwasher should last around of 6 years especially if you paid a premium for it, so if yours has given up after 2.5 years, you should go back to Bosch and ask them to repair or replace it. If they don't, I would take them to the Smalls Claims Court. It doesn't matter that the warranty was for only 2 years.

Ok, That's maybe what I should do - ie small claims etc

The guy who told us that it is dead is someone my DW has known for years.

BUT in the meantime, me and the DW don't want to do the washing up so we would like to get another dishwasher, any ideas or should I buy another Bosch ?

People on here are saying that although Bosch and Siemens are owned by the same company, Siemens is seen as more upmarket and that Bosch are using inferior parts compared to Siemens. I don't know if this is true, but I tend to buy Siemens now and have not had any problems.

You will need to make sure your plates fit if you go for a Siemens as they tend to have cutlery trays rather than a basket.

    How about this one.......... ??

    http://ao.com/product/SPS40E22GB-Bosch-Serie-2-Slimline-Dishwasher-White-35535.aspx

It has been for sale in europe with EE rather than GB at the end - on Amazon.de it has a 4.6 rating.

    I think it's a good price......

    Comments please ?
