Are the Horrible Series Any Good?

I know this could go in the "want to buy it" board but I thought it might be better here.

Does anyone have any of the Horrible History/Geography/Science books? The Maths ones look a little like a rip off and I can't see what would be so great about those but the others seem quite good, especially for young 'uns learning about history and whatever. I guess even adults could read them to get a little more info on what happened in the past.

I've seen a bunch of book sets that contain 20 on eBay. None are complete; Wikipedia says there are 23 books, which is a shame so I will have to hunt for the other three. Prices are about £20 - so £1 a book, which isn't bad I suppose.

Are they worth it?

Horrible Histories are amazing. I can't recommend those books highly enough, I found them fascinating as a kid and they were fun for my parents to read too.

I second this - my children have learned so much from these (science/history/geography - I haven't seen the maths ones). I quite enjoy reading them as well!

Horrible Histories (the books and the TV series) are the reason my daughter is studying GCSE History - and I enjoyed the TV series as much as, if not more than, she did when she was a bit younger (if we see it on re-runs we still watch it :D).

The Works also has a box set of 20 books online and currently has a 20% off code which means you'd get it for £15.99.

    http://www.theworks.co.uk/p/horror/horrible-histories-blood-curdling-box-of-books/9781407131177

There's also 18% cash back for The Works on Quidco at present - though sometimes it doesn't track if you've used a discount code.

I loved the horrible histories growing up my mum use to by me them when we were on holiday in Scotland for a month in the summer to keep me quite.

They were really good and I learnt loads from them!

Once my brother was old enough they were passed down to him and he loved them just as much as I did

Seeing that deal Suemaggie put up I might get them for my Godson for Christmas and put them away for him
