Are my Barclaycard accounts closed?

I recently paid off two Barclaycards I'd had for a decade or so and phoned to ask them to close both accounts. They said they would.
The odd thing is though that if I login in to Barclaycard I can still see both cards there, one of them has a balance of +0.32p. I find this odd since I also closed a Capital One card and NEXT account recently and I am no longer able to login to those anymore. Also, why would a closed account have a balance?
Have Barclaycard just left these two accounts open for their own benefit? The man I spoke to on the phone was very reluctant for me to close them.
Thanks

I didn't think that you could close credit card accounts over the phone. I would put it in writing and post it to them. I can't see any reason why it would benefit Barclaycard to leave them open.

Yes, you can. I have done it numerous times.
Lionshare - you mentioned your account being in positive balance, this means it definitely won't be closed.
What you need to do is call Barclaycard customer services again and ask them to send you a cheque for the positive balance, or if they could do a bank transfer for the amount. Then ask them to close the account and to confirm it in writing.I'm a Board Guide on the Credit Cards, Loans, Credit Files & Ratings boards. I wondered the same, I can still login and see my old card visible but no balance like yours... I'm waiting until the next noddle report to confirm closure.0
