Joint Cheque into Single Account

Morning!
random question but Mr Lema and I have been given a cheque in joint name i.e mr and mrs lema. Mr Lema would rather not have it in the joint account as it will mess up our finances and its an amount for a treat rather than household items. Could I pay it into my account at Natwest? I could get him to sign it

I think it has to go in the joint account as both names are on it, someone who knows for sure will clarify, hopefully.0

In practice I think it depends on how well you are known at the bank.
I've often paid in cheques that had my name mispelled, wrong initials, joint/single account, cheques made out to our trust account rather than private, etc.
If you know you are honest, and they know you are too, then it has never seemed to matter. Occasionally a new cashier has looked a bit puzzled, gone and consulted another who glances at me, smiles and nods, and then it's OK.This is a system account and does not represent a real person. Tesco bank's T&Cs state explicitly that you can't pay in a cheque with 2 names into a sole account. What do NatWest's terms say?0

Can you not just pay it in, then immediately remove the funds once it's cleared?
I'm a bit anal about keeping household expenses separate from fun stuff, but I would just put a note in my calendar to withdraw/transfer 3 days after I cashed it.0 -
Open a new joint account and pay it in- draw down the cash as required?0

Could you open a joint savings account alongside the current account, pay into that, then transfer the money to wherever you want?0

Just pay it in. 99 times out of 100 it will work. There will be no Brexit dividend for Britain.0
