    FirstPlus PPI

I am currently trying to claim back 13k from FirstPlus and just looking over the paperwork from when I settled this secured loan they have also charged me £150 administration charge, I take it this is to cover the cost of pressing a few keys on their computer!! It seems a lot of money and as I am more than just a little annoyed with the way they are ripping off myself and so many others of their hard earnt wages I want to get back as much as possible, do you think its possible to try and reclaim this £150 as well? All advice gratefully recieved.

Just got final response from them to say they will not accept my complaint of missold.
    I am confused

They say I applied by post and never spoke to anyone so it was up to me to accept the PPI.
I was sure I didnt apply by post I have no proof and surely if I had someone should have phoned me to verify my details and also the ppi is printed on the loan form no option box to tick it was all worked out and so I just thought it was the only way I would get the loan.
can anyone help me can I take it further -FOS or not.

    Laini xx:confused:

  • My husband and I took out a loan with Halifax in Sept 05 for £16,200 over 8 years to consolidate some debts that we had. In order for us to get this loan Halifax stated that we had to take out the PPI cover (totaling £6,702!). Unaware that this was not an option and the fact that I was despirate to sort my debts out at the time I agreed and got the loan. Having heard about this website and the fact that what Halifax had done was not correct I sent them the first letter. My response after 4 weeks was "During my investigation I have been unable to find any evidence on file to suggest that the adviser stated that taking out the policy was essential for you to get the associated credit"

What a response of course they wouldn't write on the file that they told me I had to have PPI to get my loan!

They have put at the bottom of the letter if I remain unhappy I could go to the Financial Ombudsman.

Do you think I should go back to Halifax again or go straigth to the Financial Ombudsman?

Isn't it just my word against Halifax?

I feel that they are calling me a liar.

    Any advice would be greatful.

    Thanks

    Hi

Originally sent letter to First Plus who came back and said nothing to do with them as it was handled through Central Capital.

They forwarded the letter to Central Capital who replied back saying they have no records that it was done correctly and back in 04 it was not regulated so tough luck.

I am going to send Martins 2nd letter to Central Capital today and see where I get to.

Are they right in what they are saying, because it was not regulated in 04 that I have no leg to stand on?

Also still waiting to here back from Capital One.

    Thanks

Okay, firstly have been browsing this website for a few weeks and i've been inspired by so many people on here to do something about mis-sold ppi, credit card charges etc. so thank you all of you ! especially Martin for creating this website.

Anyway my situation is this. I wrote to GE Money just over a week ago regarding 2 loans accounts. I have the paperwork for one here in front of me, original loan amount £11,400. PLUS single premium PPI £2194.50. the loan was payable over 24 years (it was taken out in june 2006). The other loan which was the first one was for £26,000 and off the top of my head I believe the PPI was added to that amount at around £6,000-£6,500. I do still have the paperwork but have filed it in the attic somewhere. this loan by the way was taken out about 12 months earlier so around june 'ish' 2005.
I have had the standard response from GE Money to say they are investigating both accounts and will respond within 4 weeks of the date of reciept of my letter to them (7th march). HOWEVER, I now think I may possible be chasing the wrong people as the loans were provided to me through loans.co.uk
should I abandon the claim to GE Money and go straight to loans.co.uk OR will this confuse things?
and my reason for my claims are that I was in reciept of DLA (still am) which loans.co.uk knew about. I still have the paperwork from them asking for proof of the benefit so as they could count this towards my income. (which GE later refused to count this as part of my income, therefore they were aware that I was in reciept of this benefit). when I read through the PPI t&c's it quite clearly stated that the reasons for which I claim DLA (disability living allowance) are not covered hence my reason for the claims.

I used the template letter by the way (thank you martin)

also do I now bite the bullet and go for credit card charges on 3 cards over the last 5 years or so and I believe I may have even been mis-sold PPI on a lloyds tsb loan which I recently cancelled the PPI on after paying it for 10 months. (by the way, by cancelling the PPI on the loan they made me refinance the whole loan into a new loan. are they allowed to do this?)
I have now found an old catalogue statement this morning from Abound (now called additions) and I was apparently paying account cover on that at the rate of £12.23 on a £629.67 balance (dated april 2006 by the way). I wonder how long I was paying that for.
I have to state that at this point i'm very very frightened of going after lloyds for cc charges (2 of the cards belonged to them), bank charges and PPI incase they get stroppy. I also have my mortgage through them so i'm kind of wimping out where they're concerned. and to be honest I really could do with the money as we're finding things very very tough at the moment.

i've seen so much on here. any advice would be truly appreciated.
    thank you guys!

    Hi
Dont be misled by the lender.
Do not go after the broker. The lender is responsible for arranging the ppi. The broker merely ticked a box on the application from.
GE are the people you should be chasing. If they give you a hard time come back to me. I will give you the weapons to win.
I am a former Broker, former IFA and former compliance officer, for my sins.

However, I have since seen the light.

Hi, I am chasing First Plus and Central Capital for my PPI reclaim. Should I drop Central Capital?

    Thanks
