  • Has anyone had any success with Tescos? I've sent off two letters saying mis-sold using the bit about the implication the loan not being agreed if the protection was not included. Have had two fob off replies saying, "could have cancelled at anytime - staff not trained to do that etc, etc" - not sure if I can be bothered with the ombudsman step if no one hasn't had any success.

I wouldn't discount the Ombudsman, its just a case of either a phone call to log your complain, a letter or I think you can also do it online if i remember rightly. Then you sit back and let them deal with it. You won't have lost anything, and maybe in the mean time, they will pay out if they are worried enough about any ombudsman involvement.

Anyone have any idea how long from you ringing to register the complaint until the other party is told there is a complaint against them?

Just rang Ombudsman (actually a woman I spoke to ) today and she is sending the form out to fill in, just an idea of timeline if anyone is currently / just gone that route

I went through that route with one of my bank charges and they got it to the bank within a week.

What have you got to lose? Did you expect them to just fold and say here is your money:p . Remember threatening to go to the ombundsman is not the only option, don't forget a claim through the courts.

I recieved an unsolicited phonecall yesterday from a company offering to help recliam my PPI. Now how on earth did they find out I was claiming or get my number ect. Needless to say I told them where to go and I thought it might be a good idea to note this part of martins article:
A growing number of law firms have recently started jumping on the bandwagon to sort through PPI cases. In general, I wouldn’t bother; simply do it yourself and don't bother using a law firm. However, if your case is more complex and/or you simply wouldn’t do it yourself, then bringing in a law firm is a reasonable last resort.
If you are going to use a lawyer make sure you fully understand the charging structure. You should NEVER PAY ANYTHING UPFRONT OR IF YOU LOSE. If the company is not open and up front about its fees (usually around 25% of what you get back) look elsewhere. You could also ask how long it has been handling PPI claims and for references from other satisfied customers, which it should be happy to do if kosher.
All claims companies must be regulated for claims management activities and will have a reference to check (e.g. CRM1234) on the Ministry of Justice database. Avoid anyone not on this list.

  • Hi

I sent a template letter to HSBC as I am convinced I was told the insurance was mandatory in order to get the loan, I received this morning a letter explaining that the enquiries are not yet complete and they need 4 more weeks from the original 4 weeks !!!!

Are they taking the mickey out of mickey!!!!!!!

Could anybody advise on the next step as at this rate they will send me another letter each two weeks to get 4 more weeks?

    Thanks in advance

Be patient, these claims don't get sorted overnight. Assuming you gave them 8 weeks in your first letter they still have 4 weeks anyway. Play the long game.
