Update:
Just a little update, we got our renewal papers yesterday and have had a little look through them, my figure was incorrect for how much she earnt last year it was 23k and not 25k, we are finding it hard to understand the papers but are gonna try getting our head round it, she tried calling them several times to tell them this years projective income but no answer, once we fill in this form will that not sort out the problem we have or do we still need to speak with them?.0 -
Anyone got any advice on the last post made?. Thanks.0

Ok thanks for the info, I just don't understand when the advisor was told by my other half that she isn't earning as much this year as she did last they just said it don't matter and the money will stay as it is cause of last years earnings, surely they should of updated this years income at that time instead of just replying with that, maybe it was a bad unknowledgeable advisor.
P.S - Do you have to tell them the total income for the year or just take home income?.0 -
Okay thanks will call them and report back here with what they say!.0

I think you should just call them yourself. I know the system can be confusing but I feel if you spoke to them if it is a joint claim, you may feel more settled.
Like most on here have said, you just need to change your income details for the current year.0 -
Yeah I will call them if she doesn't get time to, she has tried several times but was on hold too long, I will update here once one of us have spoken to them. Thanks.0

I do think it's unreasonable for you to expect your wife to make the calls - HMRC has lengthy delays on their helplines at the moment and so calls will be difficult whilst she's at work.
On the other hand, you can call from home and do other domestic stuff whilst on hold.

Finally got round to ringing tax credits and apparently we are not paying an overpayment back, the reason our payments have reduced is cause my partner earnt almost 24k in the 14/15 tax year, and our payments before that was based on the tax year before 13/14 which then she only earnt around 5k so we was getting the full amount of help from tax credits, but my question is surely we would have an overpayment as we would of been getting the full amount of tax credits between 14/15 tax year but she was also earning a good monthly salary so surely we wouldn't of been entitled to the full tax credits so it would be an overpayment, or does it not work like that as the person on the phone was certain we never had a overpayment on our claim and the reduced payments was purely because she earnt almost 24k in 14/15 so now we have so little cause it goes on last years income.0

All we have at the moment is our renewal forms which we are gonna do online, from how I understand it we should have a overpayment but I asked her several times and she said there is no overpayment on the claim, I did tell her that my partners income will be less this year though about 15k so she has updated it to 17500 as they ignore the first 2500 so she said that should increase our payments slightly and we should get an award notice within 4 weeks.0

Yeah will do, it does say how much she earnt on the renewal form though so they know how much she earnt so if there is a overpayment surely it should be on the system by now, we probably will get stung with one we ain't that lucky.0
