Nice hotel in Central London

HI All

I'm looking for a luxury hotel in London for my parents golden wedding anniversary. I want a great hotel for a good price. Any recommendations please? The more I look at sites like lastminute.com the more confused I get!

How great do you want the hotel to be? Claridges do 3 nights for the price of 2 for example. It's still a pretty eye-watering price though!

It's September 7th for one or two nights and don't really want to spend more than around £130/150 per night.

I have been looking on lastminute.com at their secret hotels but am a bit worried about booking one without knowing which hotel it is

I'd recommend doing a search on venere.com - really helpful website with lots of good maps/reviews, and reasonable prices too (which you also don't have to pay in advance)
PM me if you want a 4% discount code.

I think it's a good idea to check out this website even if you find hotels cheaper elsewhere, as the descriptions and maps are generally better than other sites in my opinion.

    Hope that helps

PS - I'm not connected to this website in any way, and I don't gain anything from this post. I also found the discount code on another forum.

You could try googling Russell Hotel, rather elegant 4* Victorian gothic red brick edifice in central London overlooking Russell Square. Grand old marbled place inside. Used to meet business contacts threre and the restaurant is/was splendidly grand and good food. Nobody ever had a complaint about it and websites say it's had money spent on it recently. Close to British Museum, Oxford Street and Covent Garden (and theatres) all of which are pretty walkable. Cheapest I've found for your dates was £244 for two nights B&B with Hotelsdirect.co.uk...but looking at their room rate table it looks as though they might come down a bit in the next few days if you hang on. Seemed to be several different offers on different websites.

Just found hotel's own website and they can do double room b&b at 232.66 for two nights on your dates. see www.londonrussellhotel.co.uk
Just because somebody is certain doesn't mean they are right!

We stayed in the Cumberland.... right overlooking Marble Arch.... on Oxford Street kinda thing....

A Guoman hotel.... v.nice and it was a secret hotel from lastminute.... think it was about £90.

Check the descriptions on lastminute then paste parts into google and it will more than likely point you to the correct hotel!

I stayed at the Canary Wharf Hilton a few months ago - it was lovely, and Canry Wharf is so clean compared to central London, worth having a look on the Hilton web site - they do some really good deals if you stay two nights, including breakfast both days and dinner on one night

    hope this helps

I have stayed at the Royal Garden Hotel, which is in Kensington, and overlooks Kensington Gardens.

I think the Diana Dress Exhibition may be on around then, so if they were interested in that it would be very convenient? x

The Crowne Plaza London City is lovely. Just off the river, and really close to St Pauls and Fleet St. http://www.ichotelsgroup.com/h/d/cp/1/en/hotel/loncy?_requestid=231654
