Washing machine buying advice please

We bought a new machine at Christmas. Looked at Bosch, Siemens and John Lewis (AEG). Ended up with Siemens as it had a 5 year warranty.
A normal wash takes 2-3 hours, but there is an option to reduce this to about an hour. Quickest wash is just 15 minutes.
I've had a Siemens w/m for a couple of years and am very impressed with the build quality and it came with a 5 year guarantee.0 -
The sales staff in John Lewis did comment that Bosch have changed some components to a lower quality, but that could be sales talk.
The Bosch and Siemens were similar prices, but the 5 year warranty swung it to Siemens.0 -
Thanks very much for your help.
I think I'll go with a bosch as I don't really want to go with a Samsung without knowing about its reviews.
The only off putting thing is the length of the programmed these days. normal ones seem to be atleast 3hours.
manage to spot £450 Siemens with 5 year warranty.

But I don't know if that is an error as other website say it only has 2 years0 -
Some of the budget Bosch models are built in Spain and down to a price to compete with Beko etc, with nasties such as sealed drum units. Their mid-range models are still a good balance between economy and build quality. If you are spending around £500, you'll be fine.No free lunch, and no free laptop

What's 'nasty' about a sealed drum unit?0 -
Had one delivered. Faulty from the outset- leaves washing wet. Noise like a jet engine at 5m on spin.
AO refusing to refund and offered an engineer visit.
Suggested I didnt know how to use it properly.
Will pursue this as I'm not accepting this heap of junk.
Will not be buying anything else from AO:mad:0 -
We have a miele wda 110 which has a sloping fascia. Leaves lots more room to open a drawer than the Siemens it's replaced. The control panel sits a good distance back from the work surface.0

we bought a Siemens from JL about 3 years ago (can't remember model)
What I don't like about it is that the drum fills with water down from the front of the machine which means that if I interrupt the wash, when I open the door, water that may have collected at the top of the door, spills onto floor.
And, I don't have a rinse only function, I have to use a quick wash.
Also, even at a low spin, shirts are come out more tangled than from my last 2 AEG machines.
I do like the fact that I can interupt the wash - I find, invariably, there's a sock on the stairs that I've dropped.
Plus, it's a quiet wash, and there's a small-load, quick wash at 15 mins - ish.0 -
This doesn't help with the dimensions issue, but in terms of price, the John Lewis stores near me seem to be replacing most of their display models. They keep adding different items to the ex-display area. I almost bought a Miele last week, and today I did buy this AEG which is £699, for £300:
