Microwave it, or have it go in extreme heat or extreme cold them the chip will stop working
No idea if mine still works, its been to ski resorts and tropical places... I'm sure there is a GPS tracking device in there, however they just say it shows the same info as what is printed....Aspiring to be financially independent.... from my parents!0 -

Of course it works after being in the cold and the tropics...
And of course it shows the same info - what else would it show (that the government have access to)?
As to the GPS device, I sincerely hope you're joking!0 -
Although in all seriousness, microwaving it would work.0

Maybe it's the bags under my eyes as I arrive tired. There is such a contrast with the glamorous photo in the passport that the machine doesn't recognise me.0 -
In some places they send you straight to a desk and it's not a problem. On other occasions I've ended up at the back of a long queue and would have been much nearer the front if I'd avoided the self service gates. Now free from the incompetence of vodafail0

Hubby still has an old one, think it expires sometime next year. He has had no problems with it, just takes him longer to clear immigration than me and the kids with newer passports.0

Firstly edicky, it is inherrantly wrong for you to think anything else other than that I would like to preserve some privacy.
Secondly, this article may open some peoples minds as to the dangers of biometric passports.

To be able to clone an electronic passport remotely should concern everyone. Its not science fiction.0 -

I can assure you that article won't open anyone's mind on here. If that's the best those privacy nuts can come up with, I'm perfectly happy with biometric passports.
It certainly does seem like science fiction to me, the only mention of the ability to clone it that I can find is if you physically have it in your hand. In which case, of course, you could clone a non biometric passport.
Not that I see what anyone other than a doppelganger would want with my biometric passport that they couldn't do with a normal one?0 -

Clearly it's the authorities trying to silence dissent!0
