broadband package downgrade

Options
we needed to downgrade our phone and broadband package, as our finances are fluctuating and we are worried we will be struggling with the package we are on. We were told there was a £40 charge to do this which means we shall see no evidence for a few months of downgrading to their lowest possible broadband rate

Is there anything we can do to challenge them on this?

Who are you with? How long have you had BB? What contract length did you have?

thanks for that reply, im with BT, we are on an 18 month contract for the line rental, and we are a year into that, (i think) but the broadband we only just started about 3 months ago or at the least less than 6 months

    does that help

OK, as far as the BB goes the contract does stand, and it does say in the T&C that if you downgrade in term there may be a fee. I am 99% sure they would hold you to that fee now.
    Sorry.
