Waiving a charge for going over credit limit?

Options
Hello MSE-ers
Last month I stupidly went 9p over my credit limit for about three days - the payment that took me over was on a Saturday, when I noticed on the following Tuesday I made a £5 payment to take me back below my limit.

The credit card company have charged me for this, which of course they are entitled to do, but I wondered if anyone had ever got a charge waived as a goodwill gesture for a first offence, especially such a small one?

Thanks

Just give them a phone and if it is your first time then you maybe in luck.
Have certainly done it in the past, albeit a long time ago. Paid the monthly payment late, phoned them after the due date and paid, asked to have the fee waived and they did.

    Worth a phone call.

Aqua eagerly refunded it on two occasions after I asked, although it took me less than 3 days to notice and pay.

Just thought I'd tie this one up - I phoned up and a "nice young man" (as my nan would say) refunded the charge as a goodwill gesture, but did warn me that this would be a one-off which is fair enough!

Can I just add then that you should set yourself an 'invisible' limit of say £100 less than your actual limit so that this does not happen again + it gives you a little leeway in the event of a real emergency.
