Your post gave me a 'pep talk' and spurred me on today Calling14! I made payments totalling £400 (felt brave at the time as Aug usually a low spend month for me but now I'm like yikes) only £50ish from my target :-)

Can I join the next one when you put it up please I have disappeared off the MSE trail for months but thankfully have gained no debts and continued what I had started, but have a piddling credit union loan I would love to clear before Christmas (just before reading this thread I had opted to clear the loan in January but you have inspired me so thankyou x)

    Christmas savings £200/£800.
    Hol savings £300 /£500.
    Birthday savings £50 /£100.
    100 days #20 Credit union £40/£1150
  • Haven't updated for a long time (sorry!) but seem to take 1 step forward and 2 back at the moment.

Well I'm within £105 of my target...won't do it by the end date (its the 19th yes?) which is a bit disappointing but I've been promised £55 cashback by the end of the month and I can put the £35 that I was covering my other overdraft which I previously paid off once I get paid and that will leave £15 which I'll again pay off when I get paid.

I know I've not really achieved the aim of these challenges but they are giving me a focus which I guess is the next best thing.

When does the next challenge start?

£20 towards loan today , halfway to target but with only a few weeks left it's looking like I was too ambitious

    Hope78 - never give up!

As I've said above in the 2 challenges I've taken part in, I've never reached my target but what it has done is to focus my mind on a target.

Unfortunately my remaining debts will all be too large to clear in 100 days but if I intend to set myself a target of what I want to pay off them in that 100 days.

    Hi guys!
This challenge finishes in few days. Do you another one? Next one can start 24th August. What do you think?
    £400, nearly there :)

I'd be up for another one, even though I haven't really completed the two that I've been in lol!

As I said to Hope its a way of me focusing my mind.

Do you only have £400 before you're debt free?

Thank you amara for running this challenge and you can definitely count me in for the next one.
Although I won't be able to clear one whole debt next time, I'm going to break it down a bit....but not too much!!!
For everyone who is still chipping away keep going every little bit makes a big difference.

No, I wish. I'm not badly in debt, roughly £3k -plus mortgage . My problem is, I live in nice, but bit expensive , rural area and have quite large costs of living compared to my income. Two cars are necessity. On top of that my son is still in nursery and monthly bill is about £400 (he's at his aunt two days per week). He'll qualify for 15 hours free childcare from the next month, so it'll be easier.
