We think this may also be happening in the private parking industry. If your details have been passed on to a debt collection agency or to a law firm and you think it may be suspicious (google the name and address or contact the Solicitors Regulation Authority to check), please can you email a copy to news@moneysavingexpert.com.
Many thanks, MSE Paloma
Gosh a bit late on the uptake here - this practice has been going on for years.....
DRP have now jumped alliance from using the smallclaimssolicitors arm of LPC and now have got Gladstones on their side.0 -
looks like the staff on this site missed this thread in summer 2014 too

think we members have known about it for years
the term "no s*** SHERLOCK" springs to mind0 -
Don't be too harsh on them.
It must be really hard for those who are not natural cynics.
The reality is that there can't be one major customer-facing UK business(*) that doesn't have some "issues" about how it conducts itself. The only question is what are they doing and how serious is it?
The long-term FMs of MSE are extremely experienced in understanding such things, dissecting what is going on, and in some cases providing advice or remedies for them.
(*) And most public services, too.0 -
This practice has been commonplace in the private parking world since at least 2010 when Roxburghe UK Ltd (now in administration) issued letters purporting to be from Graham White & Co, Solicitors.
Latterly they issued letters purporting to be from GPB Solicitors who were closed down by the SRA not that long before Roxburghe themselves fell over having had their debt collection renewal refused by the OFT.
There are innumerable threads to this effect on this board and it is a matter of some surprise, not to say dismay, that MSE Towers are suggesting that they had never heard of this.
Then there were the PPC's who posed as debt collectors such as UKCPS who posed as Court Proceedings Ltd, LDK Parking who posed as Ethical Debt Collection not to mention JAS and Dara (as set out above.
That ZZPS - an apparently new-to-the-scene debt collector (in reality run by the former MD from Roxburghe) - is following on from where Roxburghe UK Ltd left off is hardly a surprise issuing letters purporting to come from Gladstones Solicitors but in reality coming from their own offices. We think this may also be happening in the private parking industry.
Ahem, a bit behind the curve? Years behind the curve. My very sincere apologies for those hoping to request off-board assistance but I am now so inundated with requests that in order to do justice to those "already in the system" I am no longer accepting PM's and am unlikely to do so for the foreseeable future (August 2016).
For those seeking more detailed advice and guidance regarding small claims cases arising from private parking issues I recommend that you visit the Private Parking forum on PePiPoo.com0
