I was working in a relatively new block of flats a year or so ago and when i walked past one of them i could hear someone having a poo.

    Haha! That is bad :D

I will try that sleeping trick, but luckily they seemed to have stopped hanging out in their kitchen, which is directly above my bedroom, late at night so I have been able to sleep lately.

At the moment the worst thing is just the constant really loud conversations between the three of them and the snoring. It's so loud I can hear it over my TV. People who've never lived in a Victorian building would really be shocked at how noise travels. It's almost like the way they're built amplifies the noise instead of dampening it.

Norman, thanks for the advice as well. I think I will start keeping a diary.

Check to see if you have any air vents fitted. I had one between my cupboard and kitchen but it led into a sort of blocked up area that provides all the services, so I could hear my neighbours talking upstairs. Once that was blocked up, didn't hear a thing.

sounds as if it's more a build problem, as you don't mention the laminate so much, talking should not be heard if a well build flat.

It's incredible to me just how judgemental people can be without knowing all of the facts of someone's circumstances.

Hmm, you mean like this ?

I’ve thought about reporting them to the local council because they are potentially committing benefit fraud if they’re getting a single person discount on their Council Tax or receiving any other benefits and haven’t declared the extra two people living there. To me, if they’re there 4 nights a week, that counts as living there.

No, not at all. If I didn't know there were three people living in the one bedroom flat and then reported them then you would be right. But I do know that there are three people living there, so I think I'm well within my rights to report them.

The council wouldn't prosecute based on a single report. They would do their own investigation and would only prosecute after collecting appropriate evidence.

maybe its that you are jealous that your neighbour has friends?

and how do you know its the same friends staying over?

Well done Columbo, you've cracked the case. I'm jealous he has friends.

I know it's the same friends staying over because the same car is parked on the drive every time they're there, and I also see them entering/exiting the building sometimes.
