Good Afternoon
Been a lovely day here today0 -
You may remember I asked whether the inflation rate included changes in pack sizes. I've had a reply - in fact it arrived within 24 hours:T and I'm only checking my emails now:o:o.
The answer is they do take into account pack size changes. This isn't a new thing - changes in pack sizes have always been happening but get more media coverage these days.
They tell me that, if the pack size reduces by 10% for example, they calculate using the previous price to show that, "while the price may be the same, there has been a 10% increased 'cost'" and they refer me to Chapter 8.2 of their Technical Manual. Of course I have never read every word of the Technical Manual from cover to cover:o:o:rotfl::cool:.
This includes the following (on pages 49 and 50):
"Quantity adjustment
The simplest form of direct adjustment is quantity adjustment, which is used when there is a permanent size change in an item. This occurs most frequently with homogenous goods such as food and drink, and has been used recently when the size of some confectionery bars was changed. In this case, in each outlet the nearest equivalent new size of the product priced in that outlet was found, and an adjustment made to the base price pro rata for the change in weight. Similar adjustments were made in the RPI in October 1995 when many items were changed from imperial to metric quantities. In this case, in each outlet the nearest equivalent new size of the product priced in that outlet was found, and an adjustment was made for the change in weight."

So, apparently, the minus 0.1% rate (compared to a year ago) means that we are paying slightly less, even after pack size changes. Hard though that is to believe sometimes:rotfl:.0 -

I know it's been said before, but please, if you've ordered a C&C or HD from A recently check that the amount debited from your bank/card account matches the amount you signed for, or is on your receipt.
I just got my credit card statement in today and see I was charged £23 more than I signed for for a C&C I made at the beginning of the month.
After a long conversation with South Africa it seem that all of the Doves I bought were charged at full price rather than the 3f£10 that's on the receipt, (which quite clearly show the toiletries offer discount).
From my conversation it looks like there's been at least one other customer with a similar problem (she didn't go into detail) so I urge you all to check your statements!!
Seems I have to wait for an in store investigation first before they will refund me. But having heard many horror stories I shouldn't be surprised.
Tread carefully as the same happened to me, CS investigated it with the store but as I'd gone over the APG limit for the month they suspended my account and refused to reffund the money taken.0 -

I once got charged the website guide price and not the instore RTC price (despite me having a receipt to show my instore order totalled £7 or so and that was what I signed for)
I just let it slide rather than invite them to review the accountApparently, everybody knows that the bird is [strike]the word[/strike] a moorhen0 -
