I used to work in a food factory lab adjoining the one where they tested how long food would last for. IIRC the use by dates were a day or two before the number of bacteria reached significant numbers.♥ Worrying does not empty tomorrow of it's troubles.... it empties today of it's strength ♥0 -

On the pack sizes and 'inflation' (or deflation?), I've asked the question - but don't hold your breath: last time (a number of years ago) I had cause to enquire of the Statistics Office, it took well over 6 months before they gave me a reply. Hopefully it will be more straightforward and I can get a sooner reply this time. I suspect they're inundated with enquiries at this time though:( and I doubt they have many staff to deal with them.0

Have worked in food factories and kitchens and I don't rely on use by dates at all.0
