I think I started in the early 1980s, not laying down a tree as such but making notes of stuff that dad was telling me about his mothers family, Hindson (printers) from there I asked him about his fathers family.
Once started laying down on paper to 'tree' I couldn't stop. Several visits to London, including Kew for Army records and medal records.

Of course it is made easier these days with various software and I wonder how many hours I would have saved doing it the easy way :D

Rendlesham/Pettistree not far from me

My family name is quite common in East Anglia (KERRIDGE), agricultural workers in Suffolk, then gamekeeper in Mistley Hall, then sailors and our branch only moved up to Sunderland for the ship building industry in 1875

I tried to join a closed FB group about the holiday resort I am going to and looks like they won't let me in. :o

Possibly due to my lack of friends. :rotfl:

Anyone that understands FB, I clicked on the join group yesterday and it said pending when I go to the page today it does not say pending anymore it's back to join group. Would this be because an admin of the page has not let me in? :(

The have obviously heard about you!:eek::eek:
    Banned from Sainsbury's
    Didn't like shopping there anyway.
Yesterday I was at my local Sainsbury's store buying a large bag of Winalot dog food for my loyal pet and was in the checkout queue when a woman behind me asked if I had a dog.
What did she think I had - an elephant? So, since I'm retired and have little to do, on impulse I told her that no, I didn't have a dog, I was starting the Winalot Diet again. I added that I probably shouldn’t, because I ended up in hospital last time, but I'd lost 2 stone before I woke up in intensive care with tubes coming out of most of my orifices and IVs in both arms.
I told her that it was essentially a perfect diet and that the way that it works is to load your pockets with Winalot nuggets and simply eat one or two every time you feel hungry. The food is nutritionally complete so it works well and I was going to try it again. (I have to mention here that practically everyone in queue was now enthralled with my story.)
Horrified, she asked me if I ended up in intensive care because the dog food poisoned me. I told her no, I stepped off of the kerb to sniff an Irish Setter's !!!! and a car hit me.
I thought the guy behind her was going to have a heart attack he was
    laughing so hard.
    I'm now banned from Sainsbury's.
Better watch what you ask retired people.
They have all the time in the world to think of daft things to say.

    That is hilarious whookey x

I was interested in my maternal grandfather's family tree. Started researching, dug about on the internet and found a 4th cousin who had spent years researching. He gave me a copy of the tree going back to 1750 and said there was no more to be found as he had spent years looking. So job done but far too quickly.

Kerridge is a name I have seen lots of whilst trawling graveyards in these parts. Indeed a lot here where I live.

You could perhaps put some 'meat on the bones' so to speak. School records, visit locations where some of them lived and if possible photo their old homes or streets.
I have done some of mine and still some to do when I 'go home' next time.

You could also look into any military history, again time consuming but very very interesting.
