    Most of these type of water devices have been banned in most regions due to the fact they are classed as unhygienic under health and saftey regs. I still have a 'hippo' in my cistern though.

    Strange that as I ain't drinking the water direct from my loo. A brick would be a better option. Or a water filled balloon.

    I would love to know the reasons why. Suppose the better option is to have loos with a half flush like in OZ.

    Almost anything that fits inside, sinks and displaces water can be used. For example we use old coffee jars or plastic bottles with the tops cut off and filled with water. It only depends on the space inside your cistern.
