buying a car. paid deposit. just noticed price wrong on paperwork! HELP

Yesterday we went to buy a used car. The price in the window (and on the internet) was £9495.
We test-drived etc.
Then discussed price.
The salesman agreed to give us £3000 for our car and said that this would bring the price to £7220 (including the car tax) - we took his word for it and didn't check any calculations. My husband said that if he reduced it to £7000, we'd have a deal and then we agreed on £7100.
We signed the paperwork and paid £500 deposit.
When we got home (after the garage had closed) we noticed that on the sales paperwork they put the original price at £9875 (not £9495).
We feel cheated. Can anybody tell me where we stand please?

Go back to the garage, see the sales person and remind them of the agreement and ask them to issue new paperwork.0

Will it matter that my husband signed the paperwork with the wrong price on it?0

When they said they would give you £3000 for yours and it still left £7220 to pay didn't you think £725 was a lot for tax?
Aside from that go in and speak to them0 -
We just never worked it out - we trusted what he said - yes we feel stupid...0

Never trust a car salesman.... But it still may be easily resolved by talking to them0

It doesn't matter what's on the original invoice. You agreed a price to change your car and if that's the price you end up paying then you have nothing to complain about.rosyposyjm wrote: »We just never worked it out - we trusted what he said - yes we feel stupid...0 -
The only resolution is they pay what's been agreed or potentially lose some, if not all, their deposit.
Probably...but it cant hurt to speak to the garage
As I said in my first post the OP should have said something when it was clear that it was £725 to tax it
the figures in the OP dont add up so it may get resolved
I get the cost to change argument, but how did the garage get to £7220 to pay with a £3000 trade in0 -
Just take a screenshot from the internet price back with you.0
