Are you talking about oil for a Central Heating(CH) boiler?

Most CH heating oil for UK households is kerosene(like paraffin) and even if you can get it in a garage is about 4 times the price of having it delivered.
    Types of heating oil

Two types of heating oil are used for domestic heating:
    • Gas oil – also known as 35 second oil or red diesel. This is a heavier oil generally used in older boilers, in agriculture or commercially.
    • Kerosene – also known as 28 second or heating oil. This is a lighter and cleaner fuel and the most common type used in homes in the UK.

I've never seen it for sale in filling stations, but then I don't particularly look for it. Some rural places may sell it.

I guess some rural ironmongers / general village stores may hold small stocks for emergency top ups??? Or maybe not as they'd probably need a special licence which would not be worth the cost/bother.

But as said, they'd be selling in very small quantities (jerry cans) at very high prices compared to a tanker delivery.

I'm not sure why you would want to do this - apart from anything else, you'll be paying the standard rate of tax on the oil, instead of the reduced rate for oil that's only used in heating, so it'll be much more expensive as others have said.

But if you do want to buy a small quantity, it's worth asking the usual bulk suppliers. I know a few years ago when we had really heavy snow, the tankers couldn't get through. Some of the folk in our village were right out, and the oil suppliers said they could sell them drums of oil that they could pick up in their own cars.

Why are you wanting to buy small amounts ?
