BEWARE - Do Not Block EV Charging Bays

Motorway Services and some supermarkets now have dedicated EV charging bays with fines for improper use. Fines can be as high as £100.
Quote from SpeakEV.Com:
Needed a fast charge yesterday at one of the M40 services. Pulled in to find 2 of the three bays ICE'd. There was a big sign saying blocking them would incur a £100 fee. Chatted nicely to the White van who told me where to £&@/ off. I then suggested he might want to move or he could be fined. This he ignored, locked it and went into the services. A BMW 1 series driver stated he wasn't leaving the car so parking there was okay. That was until another a Leaf arrived and he refused to move. They had a chance.
I took photos. Went in to speak with the services manager. He gave me the email of the parking enforcement company. I used my 3G and wrote a polite but firm email suggesting they were not doing their job for which they had been employed for and copied in the service station manager.
They responded within my charging period to say both cars had been added to the enforcement list and would be receiving fines by Monday's post. Unquote

So this will either be stayed until Beavis (commercially justified), or appealed and won... next.0

I share your frustration but which imaginary authority do you imagine will be issuing a"fine" to these idiots?
This is the problem also with anpr at service areas, they do not manage car parking, only over stays, the manager should have sorted this not you anyway.0 -

You assume too much: it wasn't me Guv. I posted the above for the information of others as I wouldn't want to see anyone fined. The organisation which would be issuing the fine, according to the Speak.EV.com website, is Parking Eye. Whether the fine is legal or not is for others to judge. Come what may, it would bring with it a certain amount of grief. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

Ha, sorry skim reading on a phone, but I imagine this would be dead in the water.
A mobile phone is not in any way classed as an anpr device, the goons at Parking Eye could not issue a NTD, and cannot issue "fines" anyway. The manager is completely useless though and should have been more pro-active.
I have no sympathy at all by the way with the BMW Muppet, or white van man!
Though with arrogance like that they will probably just ignore anyway0 -
Sorry but you are talking out of your backside, especially with your imaginary fines.
Parking eye are no authority, and have no authority to issue fines, neither does the MSA the power charging points or whatever.
If you believe otherwise then i am hereby issuing you with a fine of £100 ( reduced to £75 if payment received within 14 days ) Failure to pay may result on your details being obtained from your internet service provider (ISP ) and a CCJ may also be obtained against you should legal action be taken.
You have the opportunity to appeal this, appeals should be written in Quadrple in Latin, Greek, English, and Mandarin, or just posted below. From the Plain Language Commission:

Having now enlarged an image on the SpeakEv website it is clear that the charge of £100 is not a fine per se but a parking charge. Unfortunately, I couldn't read the ts and cs. I would assume that having received an e-mail with a photo showing the blocking vehicles that ParkingEye would have used the APNR camera to record the breach. Whether it is legal or illegal, I leave others to judge. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0

*everyone knew it was a parking charge
the T's and C's are pretty important....
ANPR would prove nothing in this case. The driver who was in the BMW would be legitimate in claiming he was examining the T's and C's for a start.0 -

Parking eye do not care about who parks where all they want to do is place their cameras in the most lucrative spots.
Disabled bays, charge bays anything anything all fair game in a parking eye camera site as long as you dont stay beyond their self imposed time limitFrom the Plain Language Commission:
