Election Result - not OT

This is not the place to make any wider comment on the election, but I imagine the private parking "industry" is not looking forward to Pickles returning to the DCLG, if that is what Cameron decides to do.

Never thought of it that way. Here's hoping Pickles gets to finish what he started.0

I sent an email to Pickles before the last parliament was dissolved, and had a reply from one of the civil servants to the effect that the consultation would continue regardless of the election result, and the findings and recommendations presented to the new Minister, whoever that was.AltheHibby wrote: »Never thought of it that way. But I suspect Eric will ask DC if he can return to the DCLG, he seems to be on a bit of a mission with both council and private parking.
I have been providing assistance, including Lay Representation at Court hearings (current score: won 57, lost 14), to defendants in parking cases for over 5 years. I have an LLB (Hons) degree, and have a Graduate Diploma in Civil Litigation from CILEx. However, any advice given on these forums by me is NOT formal legal advice, and I accept no liability for its accuracy.0 -

It was clear from Pickles' haste to start the consultation before the dissolution that he wanted to start something that would have to be finished regardless of the election result, but one suspects that Pickles will address the matter with more enthusiasm than might another minister given that, for him, it seems to be personal (and indeed he is "bitter and twisted" as the BPA somewhat unguardedly described him!)Je suis Charlie.0 -
I really hope Pickles carries through his clear agenda on these matters that asking for the change from the DfT to Communities achieved in order to see it through0

Perhaps he or family member got a ticket.0

He did, he spoke about it and his anger on the radio a few weeks ago, which is what led the BPA to describe him as "bitter and twisted".
Presumably he is acquainted with the esteem in which he is held by the BPA?
I wonder whether BPA members are quite so impressed now with the seemingly strategic error voiced by their representatives? I expect the 'rah, rah, rah' will be quieted!
Whatever the outcome of the consultation, I can't see life getting any easier for PPCs from here on - Beavis, or no Beavis.
Look forward to learning of next steps. Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .
I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.

Well if Cameron's cabinet announcements so far are anything to go by then Eric 'Jabba the Cut' Pickles stands a good chance of keeping his job0
