    The tunnel.

So easy, and its so short that sitting in the car listening to music means its over before you know it.

Very few delays getting on or off too.

Weather resistant the primary driver - do it around 30 times a year either in the car or on the train - can't beat it imo.

Tend to stick with the ferry as it tends to work out cheaper. I didn't get on with the Le Shuttle when I used it. I have gotten seasick in the past though moreso when I first started using it as opposed to later although always suffer on longer crossings. lol
But than I felt sick on the Le Shuttle and nearly passed out, and hated it more than the ferry.

    The tunnel every time.
Efficient loading and unloading, quick journey and flexible. We've turned up early several times and been allowed to board an earlier train.
We always time it to be on a lunchtime crossing, take a packed lunch and eat in the 30min time it takes to get across. Then you can get straight on with the driving again :)

I know this is MSE and all that - but this sounds to me a simply horrible way to start a holiday, almost as bad as flying with Ryanair

I go tunnel, it is more expensive but for me it has never been late, cancelled, turned back half way or had a four hour delay. The single file parking also makes it very easy to get out the car, while a ferry has disabled parking when we used it my wife couldn't physically get out of the car so we had to leave the ferry. You can only use the disabled spaces effectively if there is not another car parked beside you.

I don't mind either route. I normally just use whichever is cheapest. Last year me and OH went to France and I managed to get a deal on the tunnel which worked out cheaper than the ferry.

If we take our dog though we only ever use the tunnel. No way would we leave the dog alone in the car for 2 hours. Far too many dogs die on ferry crossings

Tunnel for us. This year we are taking my Dad with us, which will be great as he was involved in the construction of it.

Why is that? Cars are inside so not in the sun. If you leave a window slightly open I'd be surprised if you can kill a dog in hours.

Its not just about the heat, its also about the anxiety and the same sea sickness human suffer from.
